The first was nice, as he could seal a skill for some time. However, his Premium Override had a similar function, so it was just not worth it.
The second perk was great, and he could actually get a companion based on the amount of money he spent.
Plus, it was a companion from the spirit realm—a realm that had limited information, even back when he scoured every piece of lore he could find.
And then finally, the third perk, which was just the system telling him to go lose his money.
It’s definitely not terrible. But flipping a coin whether I’d become overpowered or crippled isn’t exactly something I’d like to do mid-fight, Rael thought and selected the second perk.
Nice… Rael smirked. He was prepared to use it here and now; however, he heard a banging on his door.
He tilted his head, put some clothes on, and approached, opening the door swiftly.
It was a robed Zafira with her beautiful bed hair, yet she still seemed sleepy.
However, without her even uttering a word, Rael swiftly purchased a cup of coffee and an energy drink before handing it to her.
“Thank you… you’re a lifesaver,” Zafira muttered, and took a sip of coffee. “Is everything alright? You seem a little on edge.”
He flinched. “You noticed…”
“Of course I did. We’re the only two people living here, and we spend most of our time together. I can even tell what you’re thinking right now,” Zafira replied with a warm smile.
Rael raised a brow. “What am I thinking then?”
“Oh… how I would love to pin her do—”
“Okay, you can stop there.” Rael cut her off with a sigh, earning a giggle from her in response.
“I’m just kidding~” she teased. “I like how flustered you get even though you always know what I’m about to say. It’s cute.”
“You’re cute.” Rael corrected, and moved aside as the widely smiling Zafira walked into the room and sat on his bed.
“Are you ready to head out?” Zafira asked, twirling the coffee in her cup. “It’s today, right?”
“It is… but did you really manage to find a replacement?” Rael asked. “You do know those barbarian hunts usually take days, right?”
“I know, that’s why I’ll have Evelyn on the forefront,” Zafira announced. “I’ll have Linlin watch over Evelyn in the meantime since she seems pretty reliable.”
Reliable my ass… Rael sighed.
Linlin and her sister were supposed to come back a few days ago, but they only came back late last night.
“But Evelyn… why her?” Rael asked, puzzled. “I thought you assigned her to be a commander of the royal guard.”
“I did, but she’s much stronger than everyone else, so she has nothing to do,” Zafira explained. “That’s why I simply told her to sit on the throne, fill a few documents, and that’s it. No strings attached.”
Rael sighed, then sat beside her on the bed.
“Are you sure you want to come with?” Rael asked one last time.
The hunts were harsh, and he didn’t mind going solo. After all, he’d get a barbarian companion that way.
However, Zafira nodded as she glanced straight into his eyes.
“I’m not backing out of this, Rael. I’ll be coming with you, finishing that trial, and helping the people alongside you,” she stated in a determined tone.
Noticing this, he couldn’t help but place his hand over her head and gently pat it.
He kept patting her head until she finished her coffee.
When she did, Zafira went back to her room and got dressed. In the meantime, he headed back up to the throne room.
After all, today was an important day.

It was the last day of the beta test, and in less than 24 hours, all the players would get kicked out.
