The Netherspark Mana did the same to his left, covering him in a deep violet-black aura, sparked through with crackling lightning.
Alex looked down at himself.
One side burning with the radiance of the sun.
The other cloaked in infernal darkness.

Earl Drake Fury stood frozen, eyes wide.

"The line between Warrior and Mage paths isn’t as ironclad as most believe, Father," he said calmly. "As you should well know, that line blurs significantly at the Legendary rank."
"I possess both a high-purity warrior-type bloodline and a high-purity mage-type bloodline. After their fusion... is it really that strange I’ve broken the boundaries of both?"
Drake stared in silence, unable to refute it.
The proof stood right before him.
Meanwhile, Alex smiled to himself.

"Is that so?" The Earl’s smile widened.

Alex blinked, then relaxed.

Earl Drake’s expression softened.
"You’ve just returned. Rest for today. We’ll resume this tomorrow."
Alex gave a respectful nod.
"Do you wish to stay in Ashen Castle," Drake asked, "or will you return to your mountain lodging?"
Then a familiar smirk tugged at the corner of his lips.
"Let’s give them the illusion of safety. I’ll return to the mountain."
He didn’t approve—but he didn’t argue either.
With that, the two left the awakening grounds.
And though their footsteps echoed softly across the stone floor...
