Reawakening with Limitless Mana Chapter 31

Chapter 31: Enraged-1

In the market, every gaze was currently on the female who remained lying on the ground, her head was bleeding.

A few moments ago, they saw a few men beating her husband senseless, making him crippled.

She continued to ask for help and tried to stop them but to no avail. Those men were ruthless.

They never hurt the woman but didn’t hesitate in breaking the man’s legs before grinding his face on the stone until his face bled.

Those who tried to help him were also tortured and killed.

A few wise ones went to contact the soldiers...but they also haven’t returned yet.

"Should we help her?" A woman, looking from her window, asked with a concerned look on her face.

But her husband closed the window and told her, "So many goons couldn’t have entered Atinberg unless they had the permission of the Baron. Do you want me to get killed too?"

The wife didn’t say anything. And similarly, the others in the town too, couldn’t do anything about her situation since they also feared getting targeted by authorities.

In this world, there are many kind souls who want to help those who are helpless, but the fear of getting their lives ruined always restricts them.

Virelle remained lying there, sniffing and trying to drag herself towards him...her husband...why did they hurt him so much...

Virelle wasn’t their target...or to be more precise, they were refraining from hitting her. The wound she had was the result of her chasing the carriage which caused her to fall.

Her vision was blurry, tears continued to roll down her eyes.

For the first time in her life, she was feeling it.

The sense of helplessness.

Because the only ray of hope she had...her husband, was taken away from her.

"Aston ..." With her voice trembling she raised her hand toward the sky, and just when she was about to fall again, her hand was held.

A pair of familiar eyes.

The support made her cling to him as she asked, "Art...is that you ...?" Her shoulders trembled as a sudden rush of strength allowed her to push herself toward her son and hug him.

"Arthur!" And the streets, once again, heard the heart-shattering cries of the woman.

However, this time there was someone there to comfort her.

There was someone who didn’t care about the authority and stood there to support her.

Not only was he there to comfort her... but he was also there to erase the cause of her agony.

"Mom, you trust me, do you?" He asked, his voice sounding a bit too calm for someone who was witnessing his mother in such a pitiful state.

"A-Arthur ...your dad .." she tried pointing in the direction where he was dragged, but Arthur held her hand and urged her to look at him,

"Mom, do you trust me?" He asked again, his voice heavier now.

Virelle’s daze was broken by the slight shake.

She finally looked back into his eyes.

And she finally noticed it.

Beyond the calmness of the ocean, a maelstrom of rage was swirling.

She knows her son better than anyone.

And she could say that at the moment, Arthur was experiencing something far beyond words.

He was enraged.

In the end, she nodded, "Y-Yes I do...Arthur...please...bring him back...bring him back..." She hugged him again and wept her fear and sorrow.

Arthur softly rubbed her back and assured her, "You planned on returning home tomorrow. And tomorrow, you will return home with Dad. I give you my word."

"Agh, the man won’t die, right?" one of the soldiers muttered, eyeing the black-haired man tied behind the carriage.

His shirt was soaked in blood and turned a dark, heavy red. His hair stuck to his face, wet and clumped with dried blood.

Both his legs were broken, twisted at odd angles. His chest and stomach were torn up from being dragged—skin peeled, muscles showing in places. You could see patches of raw flesh where the ground had eaten through him.

He didn’t scream anymore. He just breathed, slow and raspy, like each breath hurt more than death.

The other soldiers scoffed. Spitting on the near corpse he said, "Well, there are a few healers in the mansion. They won’t let him di-"

"You were reckless, you fools!" Suddenly, a voice arrived from behind and the two soldiers stiffened.

They turned to face the bald man who hurriedly advanced towards them with a healer behind him.

The healer instantly knelt before Aston and extended his hand over him.

The healing spell started working, patching his wounds and stopping his blood.

The bald man shouted at the soldiers, "I just told you to beat him a little and bring him here! What if he had died?! How would I have shown my face to that man?!"

The soldiers were working under the Baron and the carriage was parked in the back garden of the Baron’s mansion.

And the person who was shouting at them was Baron Scott Towcein.

He ordered his soldiers to change their get up and bring the man here.

He didn’t have any grudge against Aston but Scott got the orders from someone whom he cannot defy.

The soldier in charge answered the scolding, "He was resisting...so we had to..."

The Baron held his head and sighed in exasperation, "You are lucky that he didn’t die or you and I would have been grilled to death."

The soldiers took a strong gulp...who could be behind this that even the Baron was so terrified?

Scott shook his head and told them, "Anyway, once he finishes healing, " He turned around and started walking, "Bring him to the cell. I need to transport him away today-"

*THUD* *THUD*

The Baron froze at his place upon hearing the two thuds as if something fell to the ground.

"TAKE FORMAT-" The soldier who noticed his comrades falling, tried to warn others, but—

*THUD*

Something pierced his head, and he fell to the ground too.

Baron’s lips trembled.....he slowly turned....and found all of his soldiers ...more than thirty soldiers....were all,

"AHHHHH!"

Dead.
