Rebirth 1983: Building My Business Empire Chapter 106

Chapter 108: Chapter 102 Conditions

Su Heyuan had no idea what Lu Jiaxin was up to with her secretive moves and sat there watching her without saying a word.

Lu Jiaxin said, “I can agree to your request, but I have two conditions. First, you must pay a deposit of two hundred thousand upfront, second, with the remaining payment I want you to help me buy stocks.”

Since there were no stocks available in the Mainland, those wanting to buy had to go to Hong Kong. The stock market in Hong Kong had been performing well in recent years, and she was unable to go to Hong Kong at the moment. She had planned to make her way there once her health had improved, but an opportunity was not to be missed.

Su Heyuan was taken aback: “Buy stocks? How do you know about stocks?”

“I heard about it on the radio; they said that the stocks in Hong Kong were soaring, and just yesterday, Su Heming mentioned it as well.”

Su Heyuan felt a headache coming on, his brother really couldn’t keep his mouth shut, “Miss Lu, stocks are not as simple as you think, the risk is very high.”

Lu Jiaxin nodded to show she understood.

Su Heyuan thought she didn’t understand and patiently explained, “The reason my grandfather made such a big fortune was not only due to good luck but also because he was able to short sell at the right time. Most of those who speculated with him lost everything, and there were quite a few who ended up with broken homes and lost lives. Miss Lu, I think you would be better off buying antiques and property, these things will be very valuable in the future.”

It had to be admitted that some people were indeed favored by fortune. Someone as keenly aware of the current situation and with such foresight as Su Heyuan was destined to become wealthy.

Lu Jiaxin smiled and said, “Everything comes with its risks, but we cannot avoid doing things just because they are risky. Mr. Su, with the deposit you give me, I will almost break even, and the payment for the rest of the goods will be pure profit. If I invest it in the stock market, even if I lose it all, it won’t affect my livelihood.”

“And if it’s all lost, you won’t have any regrets?”

Su Heyuan smiled and said, “Alright, once the goods are all delivered, I’ll go to Hong Kong and buy you the stocks. However, if it all goes to waste, don’t blame me.”

After their kinship was recognized, Old Master Su had someone help them register in Hong Kong, and now they were considered Hong Kong people. Consequently, his electronics factory was considered a foreign-invested enterprise.

“Of course, I will accept whatever consequences my own decisions bring,” Lu Jiaxin declared.

When the time came, she would pick the stocks herself, and even if she didn’t make a huge profit, she surely wouldn’t lose everything.

Su Heyuan, having rushed over, was unprepared; he said he would send someone with the contract in a couple of days so that Su Heming and Lu Jiaxin could sign it: “Once the contract is signed, I will transfer the deposit to you.”

“Wire transfers are too much hassle, just give me cash, it’s more convenient,” she said.

Lu Jiaxin knew his easygoing response had a lot to do with Madam Qin. To make him take her matters seriously, Lu Jiaxin said, “Mr. Su, the shoe designs being produced now have been modified. If you’re not in a rush and can spare two hours, I can give you the original designs.”

She had a habit of burning both the original drafts and the revised documents after making a final decision.

Su Heyuan thought the designs seemed too simple and that in Hong Kong they would have to be more elaborate and luxurious to sell. He had initially planned to rework these designs once he got back to Hong Kong, but now it seemed that might not be necessary.

Two hours later, Lu Jiaxin handed him six new design drafts: “These were my very first ideas, every pair is pretty, but I discarded them because they would be more expensive and complex to make.”

Su Heyuan took the designs and flipped through them, his look towards Lu Jiaxin changing as he spoke, “Miss Lu, which major do you plan to apply for in college?”

Su Heyuan felt such talent was a waste on finance: “Miss Lu, I think you’re very talented in design, and you should consider studying fashion design instead.”

Lu Jiaxin smiled and spoke her truth: “I want to be a boss and produce the clothes, shoes, and bags that I design.”

The competition was fierce, and the workload heavy in fashion design; she didn’t want to strain herself that much any longer. Once she was her own boss and financially free, she could draw when inspired and take a vacation when not.

Su Heyuan nodded in agreement: “Miss Lu, you’ll definitely have no issues, and I hope we can work together again in the future.”

Lu Jiaxin was pleased, she quite liked Su Heyuan’s temperament and his not being a wet blanket: “I too look forward to that day coming soon.”

Having obtained the design draft, Su Heyuan left. As for Su Heming, with a contract to sign the next day, he didn’t bother coming and going.

Upon hearing the news, Su Heming was so delighted he almost jumped for joy.

When teased by Lu Jiaxin, he said pitifully: “Sister Jiaxin, you have no idea how miserable I’ve been. Ever since last month when I arrived in Peng City, my brother has conscripted me to work, living in the factory without even time to dine out.”

Lu Jiajie thought he seemed rather pitiful.

But Lu Jiaxin didn’t buy it and asked directly: “How many shares do you have in the factory?”

Lu Jiajie suddenly felt embarrassed, he was still a poor soul who couldn’t afford a house, while Su Heming was a millionaire sitting on a fortune; he had no reason to pity Su Heming.

Lu Jiaxin was envious, tauntingly saying: “With such a powerful brother, you won’t need to do anything in the future, just lie around all day and enjoy the good life.”

Given Su Heyuan’s abilities, it wouldn’t be surprising to see his name on the rich list in the future. Being born into the right circumstances was a skill that couldn’t be envied.

What Su Heming admired most was his brother. When they were kids and hungry, his brother always found a way to get enough food to fill both their stomachs. He said with a smile: “Sister Jiaxin, you’re quite impressive yourself. You set such a high price, and my brother didn’t even cut it by half.”

“Cut it by half? Then who would do business with him?”

Su Heming insisted that there were plenty who wanted to do business with his brother, and then he gave a thumbs up, boasting: “When it comes to bargaining, my brother is . Many stall owners on Gao Di Street used to get a headache at the sight of him.”

Lu Jiajie was curious and asked: “So you used to source your goods from Gao Di Street?”

“Yep! The clothes here are not only colorful and varied in style, but most importantly, they’re cheap. I remember the first batch of clothes we sent back to the Forty-nine City; one thousand six hundred pieces sold out in less than three days.”

The more Lu Jiaxin learned, the more she realized how impressive Su Heyuan was. Once the winds of reform started blowing, he began as a speculator. When he found out that Old Master Su was still alive and thriving in Hong Kong, he immediately sought to establish kinship. Once he had the money, he switched lanes and came back to start a factory. Speculating carried risks of imprisonment by the Public Security Bureau, but investing as a businessman from Hong Kong made one a respected guest of the state.

Lu Jiaxin asked about another matter: “The watch incident, did you catch the mastermind behind it?”

Su Heyuan shook his head, saying he didn’t know: “My cousin said it was rather complicated and told me not to ask any more questions, that she and my uncle would handle it.”

Lu Jiaxin understood; the mastermind behind the gold watch was targeting either Xie Kaixiao or Madam Xie. They were her Keep reading on NovelHub - where stories come alive!
