Sophie Wilson came downstairs and saw Charles Seymour sitting on the sofa as if nothing had happened. Of course, the pillow he took away was nowhere to be seen, who knows where he put it.
Sophie didn’t plan to bother with it; she just handed the business card in her hand to Charles Seymour and said, "What do you think of this person?"
Charles took a look at the business card and spoke directly, "He’s fifty-six."
Sophie’s eyes widened in disbelief. What did he mean?
Could it be what she was thinking?
"He’s always been quite decent, his methods in business are upright, and he treats his wife well." Charles succinctly evaluated Mason Wilson and then asked, "Was it his wife you saved?"
He remembered Mason Wilson’s wife had the surname Sue.
Seeing the business card and thinking about what Sophie had said at the hospital about Aunt Taylor, he figured out the relationship.
"Hmm." Sophie responded, looking at Charles with a strange gaze.
Did he really think his ability to change the topic was that strong, or did he think she was truly so oblivious not to notice?
Mason Wilson treating his wife well and his fifty-six years of age, why were these mixed into the overall evaluation?
Fine, being good to his wife could sort of count as proof of Mason Wilson’s good character, being devoted to the Wilson Clan.
But what’s with the fifty-six years old note?
Just looking at Mason Wilson, it’s obvious he’s around fifty, no need for special mention, right?
She really wasn’t trying to judge him unfairly; it’s just that someone’s way of thinking... is beyond the ordinary.
Geez, is he really getting jealous of someone old enough to be her dad, like Mason Wilson?
Perhaps Charles noticed Sophie’s gaze was just too peculiar, and he lightly added, "Mason Wilson is someone you can associate with; he’s not like some men who, despite their age, still cheat young girls."
So, in Charles’s mind, age really isn’t the issue, is it?
As long as it’s a guy, he immediately becomes vigilant, right?
Sophie smiled, shrugged casually, and said, "What about cheating young girls? Some people even cheat young boys."
Telling him to guard against men, hmph, this naïve person, doesn’t he know age is not the issue, and gender is not an issue either?
Charles’s expression suddenly darkened, looking at Sophie.
Inexplicably, a chill shot up Sophie’s spine from her tailbone to her head, making her shiver.
She was really just kidding; could it be she triggered another of his "skills" again?
Luckily, Charles didn’t say much and then went on to eat normally.
After dinner, returning to the bedroom, seeing the bed all fitted with new linens, Sophie was speechless.
She turned around and stopped the housekeeper to ask, "What’s with the bedding in my room?"
"Sir said the things were old and told us to get you a new set," the housekeeper’s answer really left Sophie feeling powerless.
Charles took the pillow and came up with such a "legitimate" reason to cover his action.
Say he’s smart, or say he’s willful with his wealth?
"Don’t you like the new set?" The housekeeper cautiously watched Sophie’s quite complicated expression, fearing she was unhappy.
"No, I like it very much, thank you," Sophie said with a smile to the housekeeper.
The housekeeper did nothing wrong, yet he insisted on changing the perfectly new bedding.
