After hanging up, Stephen Wilson walked back and said, "Alright, we have a place to stay for now, let’s head over."
"Dad, let’s take a cab," Grace Wilson suggested, "I can walk for so long, but grandma can’t walk for that long."
Grace Wilson was certainly clever, using Cassandra Lee as a shield.
Cassandra Lee looked at her granddaughter with gratification, Grace still cared for her.
"Mom," Stephen Wilson glanced at Cassandra Lee and said, "The subway is not far ahead, let’s take it."
"Subway?" Grace Wilson was about to lose it, how long will this take?
"Grandma, can you still hold on?" Grace Wilson asked with concern, hoping Cassandra Lee would say she couldn’t.
"Mom, I don’t have much money right now," Stephen Wilson said in a deep voice.
Even though Cassandra Lee didn’t want to walk, the money issue had always been a significant concern for her.
After all, she had lived in poverty for half her life.
They took the subway and walked, Grace Wilson got blisters on her feet, and finally, they arrived at the place.
It was just an ordinary residential area, the kind without any property management.
Stephen Wilson took out a key from the mailbox and opened the door.
The house was actually quite big, three bedrooms and two living rooms, but the layout wasn’t very good.
The furniture was there, but it hadn’t been lived in for some time, covered in a thick layer of dust.
"How can anyone live in this place?" Grace Wilson asked in shock.
Are they supposed to cram the whole family into such a small space?
This was too suffocating.
"Why can’t we live here?" Stephen Wilson glared at Grace Wilson fiercely.
Grace Wilson bit her lip in grievance, muttering softly, "The lighting in this place is bad, there’s no yard, how will grandma get sunlight or walk around?"
Grace Wilson’s thoughtfulness made Cassandra Lee feel incredibly gratified.
"Grace, that’s your room, go and tidy it up," Stephen Wilson ignored Grace Wilson’s concerns and directly commanded.
Then, turning his head, he said to Cassandra Lee and Lily Warren, "Mom, come here."
After speaking, Stephen Wilson entered the master bedroom.
Lily Warren looked at Cassandra Lee nervously, Cassandra Lee pulled Lily Warren to reassure her silently, and both of them followed inside.
"Stephen, what’s going on, how did all our things become that little bitch’s?" As soon as Cassandra Lee entered the room, she couldn’t hold her anxiety back and asked urgently.
When they were at home, Stephen wouldn’t let them ask, but now, surely, it was okay to ask?
Stephen Wilson spoke with an ugly expression, "Originally, the money I used was left for Sophie Wilson by Sophie’s mom."
Cassandra Lee and Lily Warren suddenly widened their eyes, staring incredulously at Stephen Wilson.
None of them had expected such an answer.
"Her mom consulted a lawyer and signed papers," Stephen Wilson said in a low voice, "When Sophie Wilson turns eighteen, all that money must be returned to her."
"Then just give Sophie back the original money, why does she get everything?" Lily Warren asked angrily.
Her villa, her car, her jewelry... all gone.
"It was written to include the appreciation part," Stephen Wilson clearly didn’t want to recall the terms from back then, and replied resentfully, "Now you’ll understand why I couldn’t get married at that time?"
"One of the conditions for me to keep the money back then was that I couldn’t marry," Stephen Wilson finished and looked at Lily Warren.
