"Ouch..." Old Mr. Seymour cried out in pain, and then he heard Old Mrs. Seymour exclaim, "Old man, what’s wrong with you?"
"N-nothing... just lost my balance."
"At your age? Can’t even sit properly?" Old Mrs. Seymour complained while asking, "Do you want me to get a doctor to take a look, so you don’t hurt yourself?"
"No, no need." Old Mr. Seymour waved his hand, he wasn’t that delicate.
"How did you manage to fall?" Facing his wife’s complaints, Old Mr. Seymour felt quite wronged, "It was that brat who startled me!"
"What happened? What about Charles?" When Old Mrs. Seymour heard it was about her grandson, she hurriedly inquired.
"Here, ask him yourself." Old Mr. Seymour handed the phone to Old Mrs. Seymour, first rubbing his arm, which he had hurt from the fall.
"Charles, what’s going on?" Old Mrs. Seymour, making sure Old Mr. Seymour was okay, quickly asked.
"Grandma, I want to get engaged to Sophie." Charles Seymour said.
"Great! Engagement is wonderful!" Old Mrs. Seymour happily slapped her thigh and sat down, eagerly asking, "When?"
"I just asked Grandpa to pick a good day." Charles said.
"That old coot, don’t pay him any mind." Old Mrs. Seymour, upon hearing this, understood completely.
"Alright, leave this to Grandma, I’ll make sure everything is taken care of."
"Charles, if you like Sophie so much, why get engaged? Just get married already." Old Mrs. Seymour hoped her grandson would bring his bride home sooner.
"It’s not the right time yet." Charles said, his eyes darkening. Sophie hadn’t fully recovered yet, and he worried that after getting married... he might not control himself and end up hurting her.
Getting engaged would better establish the relationship and ease his mind, preventing others from coveting his woman.
Old Mrs. Seymour trusted Charles completely, naturally going along with whatever he said, "Alright, Grandma and Grandpa will make sure to pick a good date for you..."
"The sooner, the better." Charles’s mild but urgent tone made Old Mrs. Seymour laugh, "Alright, alright, we’ll find the earliest possible date!"
She’d never seen her eldest grandson so anxious before; this had to be arranged perfectly so her grandson wouldn’t worry.
"Charles, when did you propose to Sophie? Last time you were here, there wasn’t any news..." Old Mrs. Seymour continued speaking, but Charles didn’t hear the rest of it, his mind replaying those two words — proposal.
It seemed, he hadn’t proposed to Sophie yet!
"Grandma, I still have something to do here." Charles interrupted Old Mrs. Seymour, even though he hadn’t proposed yet, his decision to get engaged wouldn’t change, "I’ll leave the date to you and Grandpa."

"I think that kid hasn’t proposed to the girl yet." A flash of wisdom, accumulated over the years, crossed Old Mrs. Seymour’s eyes; just from the tone, she vaguely sensed something.
"Not proposed and wants us to pick a date?" Old Mr. Seymour exclaimed, "What’s that rascal up to now?"
