"Little girl, it’s time for us to eat," Charles Seymour chuckled, giving someone a pat, "Go wash your hands for dinner."
These words thoroughly extinguished the little flame that had flared up in Sophie Wilson’s heart.
With a huff, Sophie slipped off his back. Not content to just leave, she looped around to stand in front of Charles, stood on tiptoes, and gave him a peck on the lips before turning to run back to her room, satisfied.
Charles touched his lips, a doting smile nearly escaping his eyes.
He restrained himself every day, yet she just had to tease him.
When she’s all healthy, just see how he’ll... hmm...
Charles’s gaze darkened, as if a black, fierce flame was burning thickly.
The notes Sophie gave him were indeed useful; the treatment progress was quite smooth, lifting a significant weight off his chest. As long as it continued , she would surely get better.
Sophie returned to her room and suddenly stopped, her face blazing hot.
Where did that guy just pat her?
And she thought he was such a gentleman, but he was sneaky even while taking advantage, and she hadn’t noticed a thing.
Though cursing him in her heart, Sophie couldn’t hide the smile on her face, even humming a song happily.
She wasn’t without attraction in his eyes, after all.
Meanwhile, Ethan Seymour returned home in a huff, not even saying hello, going straight to his room.
The Wilson Clan members in the living room exchanged puzzled glances. What was going on?
"James, what exactly happened?" Emerie naturally worried about her own affairs, asked James Reed discontentedly.
"There was a small problem," James said apologetically. "It’s hard to talk to big brother. I’ll try persuading him again tomorrow."
"Auntie, James can’t handle what his big brother does, and besides, a younger brother isn’t as close as someone beside him," Ophelia Wilson advised, while stealthily giving Sophie a harsh kick.
"Then what should I do? Do you expect me to apologize to that repulsive person?" Emerie’s whole demeanor changed the moment this was brought up. "I won’t do it!"
"Well, maybe I should talk to my mom about it. After all, they do have some connection. If my mom’s willing to step in, perhaps it won’t be a problem," Ophelia suggested, coming up with a good plan to completely turn her mom against Sophie.
Of course, if her mom wasn’t willing, she’d still side with her aunt, with both grandpa and grandma backing her up.
No matter what, her standing in the Wilson family was secure.
Having made up her mind, Ophelia addressed Old Mrs. Wilson and Old Mrs. Wilson: "Grandpa, Grandma, maybe we should head back first."
Old Mrs. Wilson was not someone lacking in perceptiveness. Ethan Seymour’s demeanor just now was fully noticed by them. It seemed he’d been upset by Charles Seymour. If they didn’t leave now, they’d appear very inconsiderate.
"Alright," Old Mrs. Wilson nodded.
Old Mrs. Wilson smiled at Charlotte Reed, "Sorry to have disturbed you today."
"Oh, come on, no need for such formality between our two families," Charlotte Reed replied with a smile as she escorted the Wilson Clan out. After watching their car drive away, she didn’t immediately return inside but softly asked James Reed, "What’s going on?"
"Mom, make sure to take a good look at the newspaper tomorrow," James finally showed a genuinely happy smile, "In there, you’ll find a statement about Dad severing the father-son relationship with Charles Seymour."
