Rebirth: I Am Not the Movie Queen This Time Chapter 531

Jiang Kechu was shocked by the icy tone in Wan Chu’er’s voice, his hand lingering in midair as he asked, "How do you want me to prove it?"

"How should I know?" Wan Chu’er left behind these words and strode out.

Jiang Kechu lowered his head, blaming himself once again for his foolish past actions. Because of an unrelated Wei Feng, his credibility had actually taken a hit in Chuchu’s eyes, which was truly an undesirable bargain!

Suddenly, the corners of his mouth lifted, and his eyes sparkled with light.

At least Chuchu was willing to give him a chance to prove himself, which meant that there could be more opportunities for the two of them to meet.

After feeling pleased with himself, he began to think about how exactly he could prove himself to Chuchu.

Deep in thought, Jiang Kechu couldn’t find an answer, and just then, Chuanqi and Hunter came over with a ball. He had no choice but to set aside this matter and quickly went to play with the two little ones.

Now, these two little ones were crucial for him and Chuchu to reconcile. He had to win them over and make sure they couldn’t part from their father.

After returning from the backyard, Wan Chu’er went to the front yard’s corridor and stood watching the twins play with the ball for a while before telling them that Jiang Kechu was in the backyard kitchen. Watching them head off hugging the ball in search of Jiang Kechu, she then entered her grandfather’s study.

In the study, Old Sir Zhong, wearing reading glasses, was writing something with his head down. Hearing her come in, he continued to write without lifting his head.

Wan Chu’er walked over and saw that the old gentleman was writing a letter.

She couldn’t help but say, "Making a phone call would be more convenient. Why bother writing a letter?"

Old Sir Zhong finished his last stroke and put down the pen before asking, "What, Jiang Kechu didn’t make you happy? Came to vent on me then?" Although the old gentleman hadn’t gone out, he knew everything that happened in the house.

Wan Chu’er sat down in the wicker chair opposite him, rocking twice before saying, "If I forgive him just like that, then I’ll truly be seen as making a fuss for no reason."

Hearing this, Old Sir Zhong laughed and said, "Your mother-in-law has called several times, and she even made a trip here recently. Today, you should take the kids and visit them."

"I’m not going," Wan Chu’er blurted out. If she went, it would mean she had to go with Jiang Kechu. Her mind was in turmoil right now, and she didn’t want to speak another word with him.

"Child’s temper," Old Sir Zhong shook his head and said, but he didn’t insist on his granddaughter considering the big picture and instead gave her a task, "If you don’t want to go to the Jiang Family, then help me deliver this letter."

This way, if the Jiang Family mentions it, Wan Chu’er could have an excuse, looking good on the surface.

Wan Chu’er couldn’t help walking over, happily hugging Old Sir Zhong’s arm and nuzzling his shoulder, "You always care for me the most."

Old Sir Zhong chuckled and stroked her hair, "Who else would I care for if not you? Now, come on, you’re a mother, be careful or Little Hunter will see and tease you."

Nowadays, Little Hunter prided himself on being a big kid and loved to catch others’ slips to show off his maturity by teasing them. It was rather amusing.

"Whose letter is it for?" Wan Chu’er stood up and asked.

Old Sir Zhong said, as he placed the recently written letter into an envelope, "The old Mr. Kong you went to deliver a gift to last time."

Oh, it’s him, Wan Chu’er couldn’t help but say, "Old Man Kong really puts on quite a show."

Old Sir Zhong laughed and shook his head, "What’s the point of all that pretense?" Thᴇ link to the origɪn of this information rᴇsts ɪn n͟o͟v͟e͟l͟f͟i͟r͟e͟.net

Wan Chu’er thought of the gift from last time and asked, "What exactly was the gift last time? When Mr. Kong received the gift, his smile turned into a frown in an instant, and his grandson also acted quite oddly."

She felt that the gift must be related to her, but she just couldn’t figure out the connection.

Hearing her words, Old Sir Zhong glanced at her and said, "An old, worthless promise that Old Man Kong had once given me, which he had his grandson pay back. I have no use for it, so I simply returned it to him, so he no longer has to worry about it and it also clears some space for me—a happy resolution for everyone."

Oh, so that’s how it is. No wonder Kong Zifeng gave her some sort of VIP card. It seems that VIP card must be somewhat useful; she wonders when she might actually use it.

Wan Chu’er took the envelope and left the study. As soon as she stepped into the courtyard, a ball flew towards her, accompanied by Hunter’s shout.

"Mom, catch the ball."

Wan Chu’er caught the ball with ease and, although she noticed Jiang Kechu watching her, she ignored him and simply smiled as she threw the ball back to Hunter.

"Mummy has a mission for you, little man," she said to Hunter with a tone of entrusting an important task.

Hunter immediately puffed up his little chest, "Mom, what do you want me to do?"

"Today, you’re going to take your little sister to visit grandpa and grandma, okay? And bring them the presents we bought for them," Wan Chu’er said with a smile.

"Alright, mission accepted." Little Hunter agreed without a second thought.

Jiang Kechu, listening from the side, was taken aback and quickly thickened his skin to ask, "Chuchu, aren’t you going to the main house? My mom misses you. She said she bought your favorite dishes for today."

Without turning to look at him, Wan Chu’er replied indifferently, "I have other matters to attend to." After saying that, she patted Hunter on the head and headed towards her own room.

Hunter, calling for Chuanqi, excitedly took Chuanqi by the hand and they both ran off to their room to pack the gifts they had prepared for their grandparents.

Jiang Kechu followed Wan Chu’er to the door of her room, reached out to pull it open, but found it was locked from the inside.

Jiang Kechu, feeling helpless, lowered his voice and said, "Chuchu, open the door, let’s talk."

"I have nothing I want to discuss with you," came Wan Chu’er’s undisturbed voice.

Looking at the closed door, Jiang Kechu thought about it and felt that if he tried to enter by abnormal means, it would probably annoy Wan Chu’er, so he regretfully turned away to go find Hunter and Chuanqi.

When Chuanqi and Hunter came out each carrying a small backpack, they could not find their mother anywhere. Li Shan told them their mom was busy with something and asked their dad to take them to see their grandparents.

Jiang Kechu had no choice but to speculate where Wan Chu’er might have gone while he took a son and a daughter to bid farewell to Old Sir Zhong, and then he too headed out to the main house.

Wan Chu’er drove all the way to the Kong family estate, which was far more magnificent than her grandfather’s old mansion, occupying a vast area with only two buildings in the large courtyard. The front three-story building resembled a small castle, grand and majestic.

The very courteous Master Ma who she had met before guided Wan Chu’er inside, inquiring about Old Sir Zhong’s health. He led her to the second floor and into a very large room that served as a living room and study.

"Miss Wan, please have a seat. The elder will be here shortly." Master Ma personally poured a cup of tea for Wan Chu’er and then left.

Sitting there, Wan Chu’er was observing the room’s decor when someone walked in. Expecting Mr. Kong, she turned around, only to see a man in his fifties—it was Kong Shiyuan, father of Kong Zifeng whom she had met once at Kong Zifeng’s engagement ceremony.

Wan Chu’er stood up and greeted him politely: "Mr. Kong."
