This could be sung by adults, but it could also be sung by children, and since this is for a children’s program, if we switch to children singing, the effect might even be better.
Not long after, Jian Zhiqing came carrying Taotao, and Qin Xiangnuan had Jian Zhiqin call a few of his classmates over, boys and girls, all of whom were better singers in the choir, to Xu Ming’s studio.
As soon as Xu Ming saw Qin Xiangnuan, before asking anything else, he immediately pulled her to listen to the music he had composed.
The music from the cassette started playing, and while it indeed resembled the original, the sound quality wasn’t pure enough; it didn’t meet her expectations. She wasn’t being picky, but having heard something more melodious before, this just seemed somewhat lacking.
Therefore, she worked with Xu Ming for a while to make some changes; finally, they settled on a version that Qin Xiangnuan was very satisfied with, one that was close to the original sound.
Then Qin Xiangnuan shared her and Jian Zhiqing’s ideas with Xu Ming.
After considering it for a while, Xu Ming felt it was feasible and let the children do a sound check.
The results were quite good. Jian Zhiqin was the lead vocalist, with several children doing the backing vocals, and Taotao had one or two lines of dialogue, fresh and tender, like new shoots in spring, prompting Xu Ming to pinch his chubby cheeks for a long time, reluctant to let go. Who would have thought that this little chubby was Jian Zhiqing’s brother? He had actually thought the child was Jian Zhiqing’s!
The children’s recording was scheduled for three days later. Xu Ming advised them to eat light food recently, avoid spicy food and make sure not to catch a cold. If anyone got a cold, they wouldn’t be able to record. When the children heard this, they followed the instructions as if they were imperial edicts.
Jian Zhiqin, who loved spicy food just like Jian Zhiqing, also stopped eating it recently.
Finally, three days passed, and the children reappeared in the recording studio. This time, the music was perfect, although it still had some differences, but overall Qin Xiangnuan felt it was very good.
The song was easy to sing, just a few lyrics, followed by repetition, but because it was their first time and they were too nervous, the initial recordings were not successful. Only on the third attempt did they relax. Although from Xu Ming’s professional standpoint, there was still room for improvement, ultimately they were children and couldn’t be constrained by strict rules. Their natural performance was actually the essence of it.
The cassette was recorded, and Xu Ming made several copies, just in case it was lost or damaged. He gave three sets to Qin Xiangnuan; if those were not enough, they could get more from him for free, without any charge.
In fact, Qin Xiangnuan felt that these three sets were enough, because they could make their own recordings as well.
One set for regular use, one for the school, and one as a backup.
With the tape and the music, the children became even livelier and learned even faster. Sometimes Jian Zhiqing would bring back some candies for the children, who were all enticed by these sweets; now their favorite place to be was with Qin Xiangnuan.
After teaching the dance for a few days, they had almost mastered it. In fact, it wasn’t a difficult dance. Even someone like Qin Xiangnuan, who didn’t have a talent for singing or dancing and generally didn’t enjoy them, could learn – let alone these smart and eager children.
After finishing the dance instruction, it was time for them to practice. There was still about a month left until Children’s Day. Practice makes perfect, and if they continue practicing , they should be able to perform quite impressively by the time it arrives.
