Gan Jiancheng nodded with a smile. Actually, it wasn't possible for him to get half of the family assets, but he had to keep Kong Demin on his side for now. He was already forty-eight; by the time the child was twenty, he'd be nearly seventy, and what could he use to take care of him? So he had to hold onto Kong Demin.
Both of them had their own thoughts. After all, they were both scheming against each other; neither of them was any good.
By the end of June, Jiang Xinyu was already five months pregnant. The weather was too hot, and her appetite had decreased significantly, making Wei Kaiyun almost panic.
"I'm fine; it's just too hot. We've already started using the fan at home, and it'll be better in a couple of days. Don't worry. I'm okay."

"Right? I'm jealous just watching. When I was pregnant, my hubby was working in the forest. He only came back after I gave birth, and when I saw him, I wanted to slap him."
Jiang Xinyu chuckled and decided to tell Wei Kaiyun about the high praise he received, to make him happy.
Lil' Jiang Shijing was already eight months old and could crawl super fast. He could eat a lot of rice now, but formula milk was still there for him.
Besides serving his wife, Wei Kaiyun's attention was all on him, and now he took his wife to school every day with their son.
Their family of three became a scene at the school gate.
That year, she wore a dress again, and once more became the person the female students emulated.
That afternoon, Wei Kaiyun came pushing their son in a stroller, the little guy's clothes made by his mother, looking fresh and attracting everyone's attention.
Lil' Jiang Shijing saw his mom and started bouncing right in the stroller, reaching out his hands to be picked up.
Wei Kaiyun immediately picked up his son. "Shijing, Mommy can't hold you right now. How about Daddy holding you?"
The little guy kept calling "Mama, mama" at Jiang Xinyu and turned his head toward her.
Understanding, Jiang Xinyu kissed her son on the cheek, finally calming him down, and the family of three walked home happily.
"Honey, how about we go out on Saturday?"
"How about a nearby park?"
"Sure, let's take Shijing out for some fun."
From afar, the family of three really looked like a picturesque scene.
Back home, Jiang Xinyu watched Wei Kaiyun immediately go cut a watermelon for her, bringing it out in a bowl.
Since when did Wei Kaiyun become ? A househusband?
Dinner was porridge because Jiang Xinyu didn't want anything else, so Wei Kaiyun just went along with her.
The little guy went to sleep at eight punctually, as his dad only let him nap for two hours during the day to prevent him from staying up at night.
Because it was hot, Jiang Xinyu refused to let Wei Kaiyun get close.
"Honey, when you are calm, you'll feel cooler."
"With you beside me, I can't be calm. Go away, you're like a big oven."
"Wei Kaiyun, I never thought you'd be ?"
"I'm your man, your kid's dad; what else can surprise you?"
"You know that's not what I meant."
"Haha, honey, what do I have left to pretend in front of you?"
"Shocking to see you ."
"Haha, honey, what do I look like to you?"
"Old-fashioned, honest, unsmiling, proper, a proud person."
"Didn't expect I rated so highly in your mind, right? Now you know? That's not who I am at all."
"Yeah, feel like I've been tricked."
Now Wei Kaiyun wouldn't accept that. "How could you be tricked? This is the real me.
Honey, when can we get married?"
"How about waiting until I go back? My registration is still at school, and yours is still in the Capital, right? Anyway, do you have the recommendation letter?"

"Why do you sound so much like a resentful woman?"

"Shouldn't I be the one saying that? The one afraid of being abandoned should be me, right?"
"I think my possibility of being abandoned is higher." Wei Kaiyun propped himself up and kissed Jiang Xinyu tenderly. "Honey, don't ever abandon me."
"You really lack confidence?"
Wei Kaiyun sighed. "Before I met you, I was very confident, thinking I could handle everything with ease.
But ever since I got you, I've always been wavering between losing and gaining."
"I won't, no matter what, I won't leave you.
Let's make a promise; even if one of us loses the other, we'll still go looking."
"Yes, I definitely will. I'll spend my life only on you two."
After clearing things up, both of them felt more at ease.
At midnight, it was still Wei Kaiyun's job to wake Shijing for a pee, and then give him water.
Looking at the two most precious people in his life lying on either side, the happiness and smile on his face just couldn't be wiped away.
The next morning, the three of them got up, washed up, and Wei Kaiyun even prepared bathwater for his wife, as she woke up sweating and wouldn't eat without bathing.
After dinner, the three of them wore straw hats, even little Shijing had one.
The father and son went to drop their mom off at school.
"What do you want for lunch?"
"Anything, it's so hot, I don't feel like eating."
"I'll make watery rice and boil some salty eggs for you?"
"And stir-fry some red preserved vegetables."
"Okay, drink more water."
"Got it, you two head back. I'm going inside."
On Friday night, Jiang Xinyu invited Zhang Shuping and Zhang Baozhen over for dinner, especially making cold noodles.
"Xinyu sure knows how to enjoy life. I want to bring my child over too," Zhang Baozhen sighed.
"I'd love to, but it costs money. Their salaries are higher than ours, and they don't have family to take care of, so of course, they're more carefree."
"Yeah, we have our in-laws and mother-child to care for."
"So you're both envying us two solitary souls?"
"When spending money, we envy you, but during chores, we don't."
