Rebirth in the 80s: The Scholar Wife is Cute Chapter 158

It was just him and his grandson, Lu Siyuan, at home. His wife had passed away a few years ago, and his daughter was doing business outside and hadn’t returned for many years. The house was untidy since it had not been cleaned.

He was used to it, so it didn’t usually bother him, but now that Mianmian, a neat and tidy young girl, had come, he feared she might despise the mess, which made him look down on Siyuan.

"No need to tidy up, Grandpa, it’s not in my way," said Mianmian, seeing the elderly grandfather struggling to start cleaning up. She quickly jogged over and helped him sit down.

"How did you come here?" Hearing the noise, Siyuan came out of the kitchen, still wearing an apron fashioned from an old piece of clothing.

Who could have imagined that Siyuan, the very same student who didn’t submit homework at school, and even fought with other students, causing a headache for the teachers, and unanimously labeled a troublemaker by everyone, was such a responsible child at home?

Let alone anyone else, Mianmian was certainly surprised, but she didn’t show it. Being a teenager, he was already self-conscious, and she didn’t want to embarrass Siyuan.

"I have something to discuss with you." She blinked, "About selling things in the city."

"I’m cooking. Come talk in the kitchen," Siyuan turned and went back into the kitchen. He cooked all the time and thought nothing of it, but he felt awkward being seen by Mianmian in this role.

"Grandpa, then I’ll go first," said Mianmian as she greeted Lu Grandpa.

"Go ahead! Go ahead!" It was the first time Grandpa Lu saw Siyuan’s classmate coming over to their house, especially a young girl, and he was delighted, "Siyuan, there are a few eggs in the kitchen, fry some egg pancakes for lunch."

It was only a little past one o’clock, and Grandpa Lu thought Mianmian hadn’t eaten yet. The grandfather and grandson were easy about food, but now that the granddaughter’s classmate was visiting, they had to add a dish.

Siyuan responded from the kitchen.

Mianmian wanted to tell Grandpa Lu that she had eaten, but then she thought the old man would definitely think she was just being polite, so she decided to talk to Siyuan in the kitchen. When she got there, she saw Siyuan was already cracking eggs into a bowl.

She hurried to say, "I’ve already eaten, so don’t worry about me. Don’t make any eggs, save them for Grandpa Lu to nourish his body."

Grandpa Lu had struggled to stand up just now, probably because of a bad back. Siyuan had mentioned this before, and Mianmian knew the old man was well-intentioned and generous, but she couldn’t take advantage of the old man’s provisions.

Siyuan rolled his eyes, "We’re eating too, it’s not just for you."

Mianmian: "..." Okay, she had overthought it.

Seeing that the fire under the stove was about to go out, Mianmian quickly squatted down to help with keeping it lit. For origınal chapters go to 𝖓𝖔𝖛𝖊𝖑~𝖋𝖎𝖗𝖾~𝖓𝖊𝖙

Siyuan cracked four eggs into the bowl and stirred them skillfully with chopsticks before asking, "What did you want to talk about?"

"How much is a pound of winter melon in the city?" Mianmian didn’t rush with her point but started with a question.

"Three pennies a pound."

Siyuan often went to the city and had been to the market there, so he knew a bit about the prices.

In the countryside, it’s one penny a pound. If bought in larger quantities, perhaps one penny could get two pounds. With three pennies in the city and no transport costs, the profit margin was already quite substantial.

"I want to buy winter melons to sell in the city," Mianmian suppressed the excitement in her heart, trying to keep her tone calm, "They go for three pennies in the city, but I’ll sell for two and a half or two pennies. What do you think?"
