"Mom, please don’t get involved in our affairs," Wan Dongcheng disliked hearing his mother’s nagging, even though he knew Li Shiping wouldn’t go back and complain. But today the argument had gotten a bit intense, and when she returned, he still had to cajole her.
Giving a slap and then a candy was still necessary.

Not having found any cash, Pan Huiyun started searching for other things and soon stumbled upon new clothes Li Shiping had brought from her parent’s home, which brightened her mood.

Seeing that she was taking the new clothes Li Shiping had just brought back, Wan Dongcheng said, "Shiping has lost a lot of weight recently, and her clothes will be too small for my sister." His sister weighed one hundred and thirty pounds, and Shiping weighed less than one hundred.
"Your sister has been nagging about wanting to lose weight," Pan Huiyun, unconcerned, packed the clothes into a bag, ready to take them away when she left.
It was just one piece of clothing, and Wan Dongcheng didn’t want to upset his mother over such a trivial matter, especially since the Li Family often sent things to Li Shiping, and she wouldn’t miss one piece.
Shen Mianmian had gone out for a stroll and, realizing it was almost noon, bought some groceries to cook lunch at home—only to find a woman huddled in a corner of the stairwell. On closer inspection, it turned out to be Li Shiping.
Noticing her reddened eyes, obviously from crying, Shen Mianmian didn’t ask any questions and just took her upstairs into the apartment.
The hallway was hot, and Li Shiping must have been there for quite some time, as her clothes were soaked with sweat. Shen Mianmian handed her a towel and brought over a basin of water.

If she hadn’t known that Shen Mianmian had moved here, she wouldn’t have known where else to go.
