The little guy probably hurt because he immediately started to cry.
"I... am... Huzi, three years old!" Huzi finally managed to answer Bai Xiao’s question in between sobs.
Bai Xiao placed the biscuit in front of Huzi, "There, there, good children don’t cry. Auntie knows now, Huzi is a good boy, you want a biscuit, right?"
As soon as Huzi saw the biscuit, his sobbing gradually quieted down. He put his finger in his mouth and nodded vigorously.
"Huzi is very good, here, take the biscuit. But let’s make a deal, you can only eat one piece, okay? Auntie has made a lot of delicious food, there are dumplings, pig trotters, don’t you want to eat something yummy? Otherwise, if you’re full from biscuits, you won’t have room for the good stuff later." Bai Xiao stuffed the biscuit into Huzi’s hand.
Upon hearing there were so many delicious things, Huzi immediately opened his big round eyes and nodded earnestly.
"Huzi wants the good food, Huzi won’t eat biscuits. Huzi wants to eat dumplings, wants to eat pig trotters."
Everyone burst into laughter, and the atmosphere suddenly eased.
Bai Xiao put the biscuits back into the cupboard and deliberately closed the cupboard door.
She then took out the apples she had just washed in the kitchen, along with a plate of sunflower seeds and peanuts. The five-spice seeds and peanuts were special products brought by her sister.
