Hu Biao came back and called his wife to come for a meal; everyone was gathered, yet his wife dawdled and didn’t show up. He was surprised; usually, she’d be the first to think of a free meal, so what was up today?
Nobody had told him what had happened today.
"Come on, hurry and bring Huzi with you; everyone’s here already. If you don’t come and help cook, do you really expect to be asked three or four times?" Hu Biao scolded his wife in his blustery way.
Wei clutched Huzi tightly, "I’m not going! Just bring me back a box of dumplings."
Not going didn’t mean not eating; surely there were tasty dishes today.
She had known since today that they were to crash the doctor’s place... no, it was a gathering, and she hadn’t eaten all day, not even lunch, staying hungry just waiting for it. Now if she didn’t eat her fill, that would be too unfair to her stomach.

Wei said angrily, "My son and I won’t go; you go by yourself. Just bring us back a box of dumplings. Oh, and add that pig trotter, chicken, and whatever else you can get."
