The hotel wasn’t a long-term solution.
The next day, Bai Xiao and An Zhiyuan went out together. After all, no one here could tell that he was recovering from injuries. As long as they didn’t run into the old man and his group, the two of them could do whatever they wanted without any issues.
It took them two days to finally find a suitable house.
The house was near Bai Xiao’s Medical University, just one bus stop away, located within a courtyard.
The owner of the house was previously a professor at the Medical University but was now being transferred to another province. Since the house was privately owned, they planned to sell it and use the money to buy a new property at their new location.
The courtyard was vibrant with blooming flowers in the two flower beds, and at the center stood a flourishing, ancient Guihua tree. On both sides, lush grape trellises encircled the area.
Tranquil yet filled with rustic charm, it was hard to imagine such a courtyard existing in the heart of a bustling city, like a hidden paradise.
Both of them instantly loved it. The privacy was excellent, and there was no hassle of going up and down floors. Most importantly, the layout of the house was impressive. There were five rooms in total, as well as a spacious living room. The living room wall featured full-length glass windows, allowing sunlight to flood the entire house on bright days.
Upon entering, the expansive living room greeted them. The room was carpeted in red, with a circle of sofas arranged against the walls. To the left of the living room was the original owner’s study, while the right side was the dining area.
How to renovate it in the future would be entirely up to them.
It didn’t take long for them to finalize the purchase. Because of their unique circumstances, the paperwork was processed even faster.
Even quicker than them was Jiang Shaoqing, who had already caught wind of their relocation. His team arrived on-site immediately.
Once again, Jiang’s assistant, Xiaozhang, made an appearance. Upon seeing Bai Xiao, their old acquaintance, Xiaozhang greeted them briefly before instructing the workers to measure and survey the premises, leaving Bai Xiao and An Zhiyuan utterly bewildered.

We’ll present several design proposals and guarantee the renovations will be completed in at most half a month. CEO Jiang even instructed all local construction teams to prioritize only this project for you. If we can’t deliver a perfect result for Dr. Bai, we might as well shut down completely."
Bai Xiao and An Zhiyuan realized they couldn’t refuse Jiang Shaoqing’s kind gesture.
True to his reputation, Jiang Shaoqing acted swiftly and decisively.
Since Jiang had long-standing ties with the construction company, everyone involved poured their utmost effort into the project, going above and beyond. Bai Xiao found the proposed designs thoroughly satisfactory.
While they temporarily stayed at the hotel, renovations commenced on the house.
Sure enough, within ten days—not one day more—there was a dramatic transformation of their little courtyard. The arrangement of the trees and gardens remained unchanged, but a relaxation area had been added beneath the grape trellises, as well as a chess table and tea set beneath the Guihua tree. During summer evenings, this spot would undoubtedly become the most picturesque view.
Inside, the house showcased modern European-inspired designs—simple, elegant, and bright.
After touring their renovated home, Bai Xiao and An Zhiyuan were genuinely satisfied.
Finally, they could move in. After so many years of living in hotels, An Zhiyuan was on the verge of losing patience.
