Mo Qishen followed Ni Yang into the kitchen.
Ni Cuihua was originally busy in the kitchen. Seeing Mo Qishen and Ni Yang arrive, she thought it would be best not to disturb the young couple. So, she left under the pretense of needing to look after the children.
“Yangyang, are we killing the duck too?”
“Mmm.” Ni Yang nodded.
“I’ll do it.” Mo Qishen rolled up his sleeves and volunteered.

A man is most bothered by a woman questioning his ability.
“I can handle it just fine!” Mo Qishen took the wild duck from Ni Yang’s hand.
Ni Yang gave him a small smile and handed him the kitchen knife, “Here you go.”
And so, the usually commanding boss, who would direct operations from his office, was now holding a knife in one hand and a wild duck in the other, unsure of how to proceed.
Should he cut the duck’s head off?
Or perhaps cut it open directly?
Would cutting off the head be enough?
Mo Qishen held the knife against the duck’s neck, preparing to cut its head off when he suddenly stopped.
What if the duck’s blood splashed onto him?
Mo Qishen looked at the duck, then at the kitchen knife, struggling with what to do next.
“Let me do it.” Ni Yang reached for the duck in Mo Qishen’s hand, “Xiaomo, fetch a bowl from the kitchen and fill it with some saltwater.”
“Okay,” Mo Qishen touched his nose awkwardly, “Yangyang, how much water and salt should I put in the bowl?”
“Half a small bowl of water and half a small spoon of salt.” Ni Yang answered.
“Okay, I’ll be right back.” Mo Qishen trotted into the kitchen.
Although he couldn’t handle killing the duck, simple tasks were no problem for Mo Qishen. He quickly came back with the saltwater, “Yangyang, here.”
“You can leave it on the floor.” Ni Yang then said, “Xiaomo, Can you hold the duck’s feet and wings?”
“Okay.” Mo Qishen obediently did as he was told.
Ni Yang held the duck’s head, the sharp knife instantly aimed at the duck’s neck. The bright red blood dripped into the bowl of saltwater. She acted swiftly, without hesitation. This left Mo Qishen shocked.
His wife was incredibly skilled…
Even at killing ducks, she made it look cool!
This was the second time Ni Yang had impressed Mo Qishen, the first time being when she effortlessly opened a bottle cap.
After killing the duck, Ni Yang brought two bottles of hot water, then looked at Mo Qishen, “Xiaomo, can you pluck the feathers?”
“Yes!” If he couldn’t handle this, he would surely lose favor with his wife.
Just plucking feathers, right?
Mo Qishen put the duck into a wooden basin, poured boiling water over it, and began to pluck the feathers.
As it turned out, plucking feathers was indeed much simpler than killing the duck. In a short while, Mo Qishen had finished prepping the duck.
“Yangyang, the duck is ready.”
Ni Yang was busy with the grass carp and without raising her head said, “Thanks for your hard work, Xiaomo.”
“It’s no trouble.” Mo Qishen’s face turned slightly red and he volunteered to stoke the fire beneath the stove.
Ni Yang was cooking by the stove. The two of them worked well together, and soon the small kitchen was filled with the fragrance of food.
For lunch, there was spicy and fresh grilled fish and a delectably soft and rich duck soup. Paired with a sour and spicy cucumber salad, the taste was beyond delicious!
Mo Qishen ate two big bowls of rice in one breath, feeling like it still wasn’t enough.
After the meal, Mo Qishen volunteered to wash the dishes.
Ni Cuihua laughed, “Xiaomo is such a good boy. Yangyang, you must cherish him. Don’t bully him.” Ni Cuihua, having grown up in a different era, had never seen a man do so much for a woman before.
In her generation, it was taken for granted that women should serve men.
But Mo Qishen had completely overturned her old-fashioned viewpoints.
Mo Qishen showed her equality and respect. He was a man deserving of Ni Yang’s love.
Ni Yang raised an eyebrow slightly, “Mom, do you think I would bully anyone?”
Ni Cuihua knew her daughter was thoughtful and laughed, “Yangyang, as long as you know. Xiaomo is busy in the kitchen now, you should go check on him.”
“Mmm.” Ni Yang nodded and headed toward the kitchen.
“Yangyang, when are we moving to the new house next door?” Mo Qishen asked while putting the dishes away in the cabinet.
Ni Yang replied, “We’re probably moving next month. We haven’t decided on a specific moving date. We’ll move once the paint smell has dissipated. It’s convenient living here now, so there’s no hurry.”
