However, Wu Jinshu’s confusion was soon diluted by the Braised Pork Yan Erju served up.
Now that the couple had new jobs, their life was looking up. They enjoyed the meal with a sense of ease and deep satisfaction.
As evening fell, Ni Yang returned to the Zheng Family home.

"Their parents went to the Orphanage and have not come back yet," Mrs. Zheng said.
Only then did Ni Yang remember that Ni Cuihua would go to the Orphanage every Wednesday with Shangguan Dehui to bring clothes and food, and to spend time chatting and playing games with the children.

Thus, Mrs. Zheng looked on as Ni Yang carried Zheng Suyu on her back and headed upstairs.

The next day, Wu Jinshu and his wife Yan Erju went to work at the Noodle Restaurant.
Both of them were honest people who greatly valued their jobs. They cleaned meticulously, never slacking even a bit, and they were friendly to boot. The other employees at the restaurant also took quite a liking to these two new colleagues.
Wu Jinshu and Yan Erju used to settle for hard steamed buns they brought with them for lunch when they worked before, but now, the restaurant not only provided free lunch but also a very generous one at that.
There was a lunch menu posted in the restaurant. Although the couple couldn’t read, other employees told them that Mondays and Thursdays were rice with five dishes plus soup, a balance of meats and vegetables, on Fridays and Saturdays there were beef and mutton stewed noodles, and on Sundays dumpling soup.
Today being Thursday, there was an abundant spread of five dishes plus soup, including Braised Pork and seaweed egg soup, and there was plenty to go around, making sure everyone was well-fed. After lunch, each person could even take an apple.
The good working conditions meant that the employees were enthusiastic in their tasks.
