Rebirth of the Cannon Fodder in the Entertainment Circle Chapter 7

Chapter 7: Chapter 7 This Really Is You Chapter 7: Chapter 7 This Really Is You Seeing Fu Ci come in, Lu Xun was taken aback.

“Shouldn’t you be at work right now?”

Fu Ci walked over to his bed, pulled up a chair, and sat down. “Weiwei fell from upstairs and is now in the ward downstairs.”

“Are you feeling better?” He was shocked last night when he heard his friend had been in a car accident.

He hurried over and the doctor said that his friend’s injuries looked scary but were actually minor, almost like a miracle. Lu Xun felt relieved that his luck was just too good.

Lu Xun nodded. “Much better, how is Fu Wei?”

He knew it was the talisman tied around his neck last night that saved him. Otherwise, according to the doctors, his condition would’ve been serious, and it would’ve taken over a year to recover after surgery, not to mention some serious residual effects.

But now, he would just need a few days of rest to be discharged from the hospital.

“Her leg is broken. She needs some time to recover after the surgery,” Fu Ci couldn’t help but share what had happened today with Lu Xun.

“I never thought such mystical things actually existed in the world. My grandfather used to set up Feng Shui for our old house and home, and I never believed in it,” he continued, astonished.

Lu Xun looked up at him. “Did you say the person who gave you the talisman is Luo Ning from your company?”

“Yes, she’s a young actress who became popular last year because of a romance drama. But she hasn’t had much work since then. Because she’s so pretty, her agent made her into a ‘vase’ character. I only found out about her today.”

Star Emperor Entertainment is the largest entertainment company in the nation, and they have many artists. Fu Ci was only familiar with the top-tier and first and second-tier stars.

Lu Xun didn’t know Luo Ning either. Remembering the warm voice that whispered “Don’t worry, you’ll be fine” in his ear last night, he took out his phone and searched for Luo Ning.

He then saw that she was trending, but it wasn’t for good reasons. The entire feed was filled with criticism, and he frowned.

Seeing his reaction, Fu Ci leaned over to take a look. “She’s been targeted by paid trolls.”

“Aren’t you going to do something?” Lu Xun asked while browsing information and news about Luo Ning.

Fu Ci shrugged. “Luo Ning said she would handle it herself and told me not to bother removing her from trending searches.”

His secretary had sent him Luo Ning’s information, including recent developments, so Fu Ci had contacted her earlier to see if she needed help, but she declined.

“Why are you suddenly so interested in this?” It was unlike his friend to be concerned about such matters.

“Just curious,” Lu Xun replied.

“Do you also think that talisman is magical? I still can’t believe it,” Fu Ci said.

He then asked, “Do you think it might just be my sister’s psychological effect?”

“It’s not. That talisman truly had a magical effect,” Lu Xun confirmed strongly since he had been conscious throughout the car accident.

Though things were blurry later, he distinctly felt the talisman heating up shortly after it was put on him, and the pain in his legs significantly subsided.

Fu Ci was stunned. “How do you know?”

Lu Xun took out the talisman hanging around his neck. “Because she saved my life last night, then she put this on my neck. I can distinctly feel that the reason my legs aren’t that badly hurt is all because of it.”

“Are you saying it’s not the ‘miracle’ the doctor mentioned about luck, but this talisman that greatly reduced your injuries?” Fu Ci felt his worldview was being refreshed, one revelation at a time.

He leaned in closer to take a look. “This talisman and the one Luo Ning gave me clearly were drawn by the same person.”

Lu Xun chuckled softly. “I would have never believed it before either, but after experiencing it firsthand, I can’t help but believe.”

He had been conscious after the car accident, so after waking up, he had someone check the surveillance footage of the area and saw a young woman rescuing him from the car.

He had his assistant check her information, but unexpectedly, he learned about it from a friend first.

What surprised him was that Luo Ning actually belonged to the entertainment circle, so she should have recognized him at that time. If she had accompanied him to the hospital or left a contact number, he would definitely have repaid her by taking care of her in the circle.

Or even fetched her some resources or resolved the troubles she encountered.

But she did a good deed anonymously, which was very rare.

Fu Ci was also surprised that it was Luo Ning who saved his friend, especially since she didn’t expect a major actor like him to repay her, a truly uncommon occurrence.

“Do you want to repay her for saving your life?” he asked Lu Xun curiously.

Lu Xun nodded, “Of course.”

He had initially planned to help her deal with a trending search issue, but since she didn’t need it, he would repay her in other ways.

“Manager, you can replace him today.”

Lu Xun paused and asked, “Does she have any events coming up?”

“In a week, she has a reality show gig. It’s the latest one launched by Strawberry Channel, combining a talent show with a live reality show, and it’s been quite popular lately.”

Fu Ci countered, “Why do you ask?”

Lu Xun had already heard about this new reality show, “Arrange it for me. I’ll join it too, either as a regular or a guest.”

Fu Ci’s jaw nearly dropped, “What? You’re going to that show? Aren’t you the one who never participates in variety shows?”

There was no need for his friend, with his status and background, to join a variety show to boost popularity.

“I suddenly got interested, help me arrange it, or I can have my manager do it,” said Lu Xun with a hint of enthusiasm.

He too was an artist under Star Emperor Entertainment but had his own separate studio.

Being clever, Fu Ci quickly caught on, “Are you participating because of Luo Ning?”

“Sort of,” Lu Xun replied without elaborating.

“Then I’ll arrange it. It’s also a good opportunity to change Luo Ning’s manager,” said Fu Ci.

Lu Xun thought for a moment and then said, “Let Brother Fang take care of her.”

“Would Brother Fang agree?” Fu Ci asked uncertainly.

Fang Yan was Star Emperor Entertainment’s top manager, having led stars to become even award winners. Six months ago, the actor he managed had married and retired, and he hadn’t taken on any newcomers since, seemingly with no plans to do so.

Many in the company, including first and top-tier stars, sought Fang Yan’s mentorship, given his vast accumulated resources and network in the industry over the years.

Though he was the CEO, it wouldn’t be right to force a company veteran to take on a newcomer.

Lu Xun said, “He owed me a favor before; let him repay it this time.”

Fu Ci chuckled, “That’s so like you.”

After chatting for a while longer, Fu Ci saw that it was about time, so he got up and went back to the hospital room downstairs.

Luo Ning arrived at the scheduled time, and as soon as she entered the room, Mrs. Fu warmly grabbed her and greeted her.

Fu Wei had already awoken and was curiously sizing up Luo Ning, “You’re so beautiful!”

She wasn’t usually into celebrities, so she didn’t know much about Luo Ning.

She sincerely found Luo Ning extremely attractive, not the strikingly glamorous type, but with bright eyes and white teeth, elegant demeanor, delicately pretty—an attention-catching kind of beauty.
