"In the past, didn’t Nianhua live with the Su Family?" Pei Yining questioned with some confusion.
Pei Yicheng replied, "It’s different now."
"What’s different?" Pei Yining pressed on, determined to get to the bottom of it, eyeing Pei Yicheng curiously.
Pei Yicheng took a sip of water, put the glass down, and finally answered, "Do you know the Gu Family?"
Pei Yicheng responded with a question instead of answering directly.
The Gu Family?
Pei Yining didn’t immediately understand, then she blurted out, "The Gu Family of Gu Mingzhu? Nianhua’s biological parents? They’re terrible!"
Despite not deliberately prying, Pei Yining was aware of the situation with the Gu Family.
Gu Mingzhu had a pleasant name, but the actions of the Gu Family were utterly disgraceful to Pei Yining. Were these really her biological parents?

"I can’t guess." Pei Yining answered without thinking, looking at Pei Yicheng, perplexed.
"Take a guess." Pei Yicheng encouraged her.
A particularly ridiculous idea formed in her mind, but then she dismissed it as impossible.
"Say it boldly." Pei Yicheng knew she had already figured it out.
"Impossible."
Pei Yicheng shook his head incredulously, "Yicheng, that’s too unbelievable. How could Nianhua be a child of the Su Family?"
"Yes." Pei Yicheng nodded, confirming her answer.
"You’re lying to me." Pei Yining retorted without thinking, "The Su Family is from Ningbei; how could they be related to Nianhua from South City?"
