On that day, six girls in their early twenties hastily agreed on a name and set up a studio in their dorm room; this studio would become a famous translation company in China, earning heaps of money!
That night, none of them could sleep. The thought of starting their studio caused their hearts to race with excitement, leading to sleeplessness.
The next morning, apart from Xu Nianhua, everyone else, without exception, was sporting panda eyes.
Xu Nianhua looked at their panda eyes and asked, "Did you all go thieving last night?"
"You’re the one who went thieving," Fei Jiayi said, rubbing her sleepy eyes and yawning hugely. "You slept well while the five of us were awake all night!"
Xu Nianhua touched her nose. Hadn’t she brought it up because the atmosphere seemed good yesterday?
"Nianhua, when are we going to look for a house?" Ding Guo said eagerly.
"Yeah, how about tomorrow," Liao Jinling suggested, then shook her head. "Tomorrow won’t work; we have classes. So, Saturday then, everyone’s free on Saturday."
"Sure, let’s all go house hunting when everyone’s free," Xu Nianhua said, looking at their dark circles. "You guys should put a towel on your face; people might think you went thieving."
"Why isn’t today Saturday?" Fei Jiayi exclaimed sadly. She hoped she wouldn’t suffer from insomnia for several more days.
"There’s no rush for the house. Right now, we should focus on improving our skills so that when the studio is up and running, and business comes in, we can handle it."
Xu Nianhua said cheerfully, believing that someday, they would undoubtedly be responsible for the studio’s performance and aesthetics.
"Nianhua’s right," Fei Jiayi said. Suddenly, all feelings of sleepiness vanished; she knew she had to work even harder than before.
A wave of diligent studying, more intense than before any competition, swept through the dorm.
Xu Nianhua smiled coyly. That day, she had specifically inquired about French classes and consulted Professor Fei. Soon, she added a French course to her schedule.
While everyone else was still struggling with English, when Xu Nianhua decided to take up French, everyone stared at her in shock.
"Nianhua, English class is exhausting enough, and you want to study French too?" Ding Guo looked at Xu Nianhua with exaggerated astonishment and disbelief.
She was already overwhelmed with English; adding French was simply unimaginable for her.
"Nianhua, I just felt I was doing well, and then you go and demoralize us," Liao Jinling said despairingly. She had thought she was working hard, but looking at Xu Nianhua, she felt her efforts amounted to nothing.
Fei Jiayi had known about this the day before. Since Xu Nianhua hadn’t confirmed, she hadn’t spread the word, and today, hearing the news didn’t shock her much; she always believed Xu Nianhua would pursue it.
"Nianhua, are you sure about learning two languages at once? I’ve heard French is not easy," said Fei Jiayi, who often visited her aunt’s house. Even though she hadn’t learned it, she had heard enough to know French wasn’t easy to master.
"Is knowledge ever easy? If you put in enough effort, you can always learn," Xu Nianhua replied. She wasn’t afraid of difficult subjects; if she was slower than others, she would simply work harder until she understood.
