Chiang Baohe couldn’t help but swallow his saliva and walked towards her.
When he arrived at the woman’s side, he could even smell a faint scent unique to women.
His blood rushed towards a certain place, and he couldn’t help but reach out his hand to touch the woman’s arm.
Just then, behind him, Chiang Xiao suddenly appeared, holding the small stool she used to sit on while painting in her Space, and slammed it down on the back of his head with a fierce blow.
With a thud, Chiang Baohe didn’t even have a chance to utter a sound before he collapsed unconscious.
Chiang Xiao looked at the corner of the wall, her heart pounding.
She had just thought of Liu Caiyun while waiting for Chiang Baohe and, absentmindedly, to pass the time, had used the Magic Brush to draw this woman. Just as she saw Chiang Baohe stumble out, drunk, she had the whimsical idea to test if there was anything magical about the drawing, so she smeared it onto the wall.
To her surprise, Chiang Baohe actually failed to recognize that it was just a drawing!
He really mistook the woman in the painting for a real person!
It seemed that after the medicinal properties in the Space became strong enough, the drawings made with the Magic Brush became increasingly realistic.
Of course, it was related to the dim night and Chiang Baohe’s drunken stupor as well.
But no matter what, her plan had succeeded.
Chiang Xiao immediately dragged the unconscious Chiang Baohe into the Space and followed in after him.
Looking at Chiang Baohe, who was lying on the ground, Chiang Xiao’s heart boiled with hatred. She really wished she could just kill him, since no one in the Space would see, and use his chopped body as fertilizer for the medicinal herbs, ensuring that nobody would ever discover it.
However, doing so would mean that she had taken a life, and moreover, the Space was like the palm of her hand—her safest refuge and private territory. If she truly buried him in the soil, Chiang Xiao knew she would feel dirty and uncomfortable, as if she were always hiding a corpse on her person.
And besides, who knew if burying him would eventually produce a stench, or breed maggots, or if it would impact the quality of the Black Soil, or affect the Space in other ways?
This was a risk Chiang Xiao wasn’t willing to take.
But she absolutely refused to let Chiang Baohe off the hook. If left to his own devices, who knew what else could happen?
Every time she thought of her grandfather’s injuries, how her grandmother was pushed over, and the murderous intent in Chiang Baohe’s gaze when he looked at her, Chiang Xiao’s heart turned as cold and hard as iron.
She looked around, spotted a stone by the roadside, came out of the Space, carried the stone back in, and looking at the unconscious Chiang Baohe, she lifted the rock and smashed it down viciously on his right ankle.
A second before Chiang Baohe’s agonized screams began, she pushed him out of the Space, then stayed inside herself. Chiang Baohe’s piercing screams tore through the village’s tranquillity.
If she went out now, she would definitely run into people. Besides, she wanted to watch what happened next from the scene.
She threw the rock in a corner of the Black Land, confident that nobody would be able to find it even if they were looking for the weapon.
"Ah! Which bastard hit me! My foot! Mother!" Chiang Baohe was awakened by the searing pain, and began to howl as soon as he regained consciousness.
Soon, nearby villagers were drawn out by the noise, and naturally, Liu Caiyun was the closest. She too was startled by Chiang Baohe’s screams; after hesitating for a moment and seeing others coming over from the crack in her door, she finally opened it and followed them.
"Isn’t this Chiang Baohe? What’s he doing lying here?" A man clad in a robe went up and took a look, then cried out in alarm.
"Mother! My foot’s killing me! Where is that wretch! She must have been the one who smashed my foot!" Chiang Baohe struggled to sit up, and when he saw his own right ankle, he nearly passed out again.
