Chiang Xiao kept asking questions, while He Jin just laughed and shook his head. "Haha, Xiao Chiang, have you squatted at those street stalls for too long, always reading those messy magazines?"
The legal wife even came to make a scene.
But he didn’t know that such things would become far too common later on.
"I never read those magazines," Chiang Xiao said earnestly.
"My friend’s wife knows about this place; it’s her who supported the selling of the house," He Jin added, "Our friend’s grandfather had three concubines, everyone in their family... knows about it."

Chiang Xiao crossed her arms over her chest defensively, "No thanks, if Ms. Xia Yue hears you say that, she’ll flip out with jealousy and come looking for me again."

Once when she came to the county town because He Jin had helped sell two of her paintings, Chiang Xiao brought him a new painting. He was at the teahouse then and invited her to join, but Ms. Xia Yue followed as well. Therefore, for Chiang Xiao to fork out five thousand yuan to buy this house wasn’t difficult at all.
That night, they temporarily stayed at Uncle Lee’s guest house, waiting for He Jin to reply.
The next day, He Jin said the homeowner agreed to take away all the furniture, but then told her that he would sell the furniture to a second-hand furniture market and whatever money was made, would be deducted from the house price, halving that amount.
The other half would cover the labor costs for the workers he hired.
Chiang Xiao, encountering such candidness for the first time, laughed and cried at the same time, but agreed.
