The moment the man appeared, the bustling marketplace fell silent, yet no one glanced at the man with the red cloak, as handsome as a demon.
"It’s the City Lord."
"Greetings, City Lord."
A chorus of voices quickly followed, and Gabriel Blake was momentarily stunned, then realized that the City Lord, Jasper, indeed had a pair of red eyes...
At the same time, the chubby man turned around, his pea-like eyes squinting into slits with laughter, as he walked over.
"As he passed by Gabriel, the man’s expression changed, noticing the stolen goods in the boy’s hand that hadn’t been hidden away.
"Well, you little brat dare to steal my wallet? Do you have a death wish?"
Gabriel was only jolted back to reality when shouted at angrily. Despite being a pickpocket for many years, this was the first time he’d been caught. A trace of regret flashed in his eyes, but he smiled.
"Oh, so it was this gentleman’s wallet? I just picked it up, here you go." Gabriel tossed the wallet to the man and turned to flee.
"Catch him for me, I want to beat him to death." The chubby man shouted anxiously.
Two lackeys swiftly blocked Bella Green and lifted her up.
"City Lord Jasper, this kid stole my wallet, teaching him a lesson shouldn’t be a problem, right?" The chubby man said with a smile.
Jasper’s red eyes were enigmatic, a wicked curve on his lips, and he responded indifferently: "As you please, Mr. Chen."
Getting the go-ahead, the chubby man grew even more reckless, approaching Gabriel, cursing, then raised his hand and mercilessly slapped Gabriel.
As that slap swung toward him, Gabriel’s pupils flashed with fierceness, quickly raised his leg, and kicked the man’s chest with full force, sending him sprawling to the ground.
"Ow, ow, ow, kicked me to death, kicked me to death." The chubby man shouted loudly while on the ground.
But, no one around spoke up to interrupt.
The man rolled around on the ground, seeing everyone watching the commotion, not speaking, instantly cried out even more pitifully.
"Director, this kid isn’t following the script, actually hitting people, ow, my bones might be broken."
Hearing the man shout like that, the crowd snapped back to reality, looked at the man on the ground, each one stunned.
The plot didn’t seem to unfold this way?
Yet, just being brought into the scene by the youth, no one felt that kick was inappropriate, all were waiting for the play to continue.
Until the chubby man cried out, they finally realized, the plot’s not right?
Bryce Xavier also realized late, stood up, glaring angrily at the youth and cursed: "Bella Green, are you aiming to soar? Did you read the script? Do you know how to act?"
Having snapped out of character, Bella Green looked at the man on the ground, her eyes flashed with severity—a moment ago this man really intended to hit her, with his force she might have lost two teeth?
In a blink, she put on a grievance-stricken look, gazing at Bryce Xavier.
"Director, Gabriel Blake’s character is inherently rebellious and unruly, hence why Jasper took interest in him. Standing still to be beaten and doing nothing wouldn’t be logical, right?"
Listening to the youth’s words, everyone felt it made perfect sense and was amazed; they hadn’t expected this small role player to perform so well.
For that moment, no one saw him as just a minor role, Bella Green, but as the cunning and spirited Gabriel Blake.
