She stepped back a few paces, but bumped into Vivian Thornecroft’s arms.

Anna Green trembled as she spoke, her voice shaking, as she leaned into Vivian Thornecroft’s arms, her gaze carrying a hint of fear as she looked at Bella Green.
Her appearance made it seem as if Bella Green was a demon.
That sight in Bella Green’s eyes only made her find it amusing.
Suddenly, she turned her head to the man beside her, raising an eyebrow slightly.
"Am I uglier than Anna Green?"
Louis Lawrence lowered his head at her words, his eyes curving with his smile, his voice gentle: "You’re beautiful."
"Is my background inferior to Anna Green’s?"
"She’s an adopted daughter."
"Then are you not as good-looking as Vivian Thornecroft?"
Louis Lawrence touched his chin, his eyes narrowing slightly, then his smile grew more wicked and alluring.
"I should be the better-looking one."
Bella Green made a knowing "oh" sound, then looked at Anna Green with an innocent expression.
"So, why am I jealous of you?"
The back-and-forth left Anna Green’s face looking extremely unpleasant.
