When I went to the Thornecroft Family yesterday, I was ridiculed because of Bella Green. I suppressed my anger and comforted myself by saying it wasn’t Bella’s fault.
But now that she’s back, she’s disrupted the peace at home, causing a commotion.
In an instant, I was burning with anger.
Bella Green looked at the man at the corner of the stairs, her eyes growing colder, and her heart growing colder.
"Sorry, I didn’t expect a piece of clothing to have such an impact on the Green Family. I’ve been at the hospital for so many days without a change of clothes, so I went to buy a new outfit after being discharged yesterday."
"Bella, why didn’t you call home if you didn’t have clean clothes? Also, this outfit doesn’t suit you," Anna Green looked at her, hesitant to speak further.
Listening to this, Francesca Willis became even more irritated.
"Buying clothes is fine, but look at what you bought, men’s clothing? Are you trying to make people say my daughter in the Green Family has a peculiar fashion sense?"
Bella Green heard these words and remained silent, her gaze sweeping over the people in the room. Her family always assumes the worst of her, even though she hasn’t done anything wrong.
But in their eyes, perhaps her mere existence is a mistake.
Bella Green suddenly laughed, not as before, immune to mockery and resilient enough that no one could tear her down.
Instead, she laughed bleakly, her dark eyes moving from Daniel Green to Francesca Willis, and finally landing on Samuel Green.
Samuel Green looked at those eyes, and the anger in his heart faded like a retreating tide, as he gazed helplessly at his daughter.
Clearly, she was his biological child, yet that thin, beautiful face felt somewhat unfamiliar to him at first.
He had searched for her for so many years, brought her back, wanting to make amends, to cherish her.
But why did it turn out ?
Was it because of all the things that happened after she returned, that left him disappointed, humiliated?
Yet he forgot that Bella Green grew up in an environment where she understood nothing.
She didn’t understand the rules of the wealthy, the brands and luxury items Claire Green was familiar with, not even distinguishing between bird’s nests and white fungus when she first returned.
These aren’t her faults...
"Bella, I’m sorry, I was too emotional earlier," he explained somewhat apologetically.
Bella Green shook her head, her eyes turned red from laughing, as she raised her hand to touch her short hair.
"If I hadn’t gone into the women’s clothing store and almost been mistaken for a pervert, I wouldn’t have bought men’s clothing."
Bella Green’s words were extremely sorrowful, painful.
If Mason Bennett were here, he would surely commend her acting skills.
When did you go to the women’s clothing store? When were you mistaken for a pervert?
Such bold lies, told vividly with such passion—it’s remarkably strong!
Samuel Green stared at her overly short hair, stunned for a moment.
He remembered Bella Green had shiny, long, black hair, which was very beautiful.
But because Claire Green said it might be bad for the wound on her head, she got it cut short.
Anna Green was startled hearing her words, her heart inexplicably tightened, as she looked at Bella Green.
"This, your sister meant well, she just wanted to..." Samuel Green tried to explain.
"I know," Bella Green interrupted him, then fiddled with her hair to reveal the fingertip-length pale pink scar on her forehead.
"This wound indeed required a haircut. Sister, thank you."
Bella Green smiled sweetly, her eyebrows curving, looking sweet and cute.
But anyone could hear the sarcasm in her words.
Anna Green’s face turned pale as she watched Bella Green’s actions, growing increasingly uneasy, but still managed to force a smile: "You’re welcome."
Before the words fell, Bella Green’s smile suddenly vanished, her face turning icy cold and terrifying.
