Chapter 1149: Chapter 1149: Show Off
Capital City. Luo Xuyan’s first order of business upon returning to the country was to develop some photos. Due to the large quantity, the shopkeeper told him he could come back later to pick them up.
When he got the photos, a lady in the photo studio casually commented, “Why did you take so many?”
Luo Xuyan replied with a touch of haughtiness, “A lot? We have many family members, and this isn’t even enough to go around.”
Then he picked up a photo of triplets, “Look, these are my nephews, triplets. Aren’t they cute?”
The lady took a look, “Ah, they really are. They look great.”
Luo Xuyan beamed with pride, “Of course, their mother, my sister, is naturally beautiful. How could they not be handsome?”
Someone else joined in, “That’s true, your sister is quite incredible to have triplets in one go.”
The lady from before added, “And three boys at that, what great luck. Her in-laws must treasure them like ancestors.”
Luo Xuyan looked through all of the photos, didn’t engage further with the lady’s comment, paid the remaining balance, and left the photo studio with a joyful expression, striding with the determination of someone who wouldn’t recognize a relative.
The first stop was the public security office, “Comrade, I’m looking for Lu Yichen. Which floor is his office on?”
This was Luo Xuyan’s first time visiting his brother-in-law’s workplace, and he really didn’t know where the office was.
Several policemen standing around all looked at him, “Who are you? What do you want with our chief?”
Luo Xuyan quickly caught on, realizing they probably mistook him for someone causing trouble or trying to pull strings, and quickly explained, “He’s my brother-in-law. I’ve come to deliver some things to him.”
The men exchanged glances and their attitude changed in an instant. One of them who was quick on the uptake said, “Sorry about that. Our chief is in a meeting right now, please have a seat over here.”
Someone turned and went upstairs, knocking lightly on the door of the chief’s office, and then a voice from inside said, “Come in.”
Only then did they open the door, “Chief, someone’s looking for you downstairs.”
Lu Yichen put down the files in his hand, “Who is it?”
“The person says he’s your brother-in-law.”
Lu Yichen stood up and walked out, spotting his uncle from the staircase, “Big Brother, what brings you here?”
Luo Xuyan stood up, jokingly saying, “Well, it’s not easy to see you just over a phone call. I’ve just come back to Capital City today and rushed to get the photos developed. Now, I’m delivering them to you first thing.”
The policemen nearby listened to their conversation, realizing that this man indeed was the chief’s uncle. They thought that they might have been too cautious earlier.
One of them approached Luo Xuyan to explain, “Comrade, we were just being cautious. Please accept our apologies.”
Luo Xuyan laughed it off, “No worries, you did the right thing. I was just kidding with him.”
Then Lu Yichen introduced him, “This is my uncle, Luo Xuyan. You guys can get back to your business.”
Without waiting, he urged, “Big Brother, let’s go. Come sit in my office.”
He was anxious; it all started when Luo Qiao sent an express letter with photos of his son right after his birth. Now, the baby was already a month old, certainly a lot has changed. In addition, he hadn’t seen his wife and daughter for four months.
He had already filed an application to visit his wife and children, but he wasn’t sure if it would be approved.
As soon as they entered the office, Luo Xuyan took out a stack of photos and handed them to Lu Yichen, who took them and said, “There’s tea on the cupboard; help yourself to some water, Big Brother.”
He himself couldn’t let go of the pictures of his wife and children, looking at them lovingly.
Luo Xuyan wasn’t offended. He brewed himself some tea, sipping it while chatting with Lu Yichen about what was happening back home, making Lu Yichen wish he could sprout wings and fly there right then.
