Luo Qiao didn’t think too much of it since it wasn’t a big deal if word got out, nor was it embarrassing, and it could even serve as a deterrence to those harboring ill intentions.

Following behind her, Steven said admiringly, "Luo, you’re just incredible."
Luo Qiao just smiled and didn’t say much.
Seeing that it was getting late, Luo Qiao decided to leave.
Just then, someone shouted, "Wait, fellow countryman."
Luo Qiao stopped, turned around, and saw the person chasing after her. "Is your injury treated?"
The person grinned. "It’s been taken care of. I just need to rest for a while. My name is Cheng Qianjin, a master’s student at the business school."
Luo Qiao smiled and nodded: "Hello, I’m Luo Qiao, a Ph.D. student at the medical school."
The person seemed excited, "Your mentor is Professor Wilson?"
Luo Qiao smiled. "Yes."
"That’s incredible! A few of us Chinese international students had talked about this before, and we even heard some things about you. I never expected to meet you in person today. Now that we’ve met this time, we should definitely keep in touch more often. I’m really grateful for your help today. Without you, I would have been in big trouble; I might even be lying in the infirmary right now."
"Don’t mention it. We’re all from China. Here in a foreign land, we should stand united."
Luo Qiao gave her mobile number to Cheng Qianjin, who left a dormitory phone number in return, and then they bid each other farewell.
Upon returning home that evening and reflecting on the day’s events, she knew she had acted impulsively, but she had no regrets.
Thinking about the competition she had arranged for tomorrow, and those seniors, she felt a deep sense of cultural pride. Therefore, merely giving her all in tomorrow’s match wouldn’t suffice; she intended to teach him a lesson in manners.
Arriving home by car, it was rather late, but the living room lights were still on. Over the years, living with Elder Rong, Rong Daniang, and He Qing felt just like family, with genuine mutual care.
Hearing the sound of the car, Rong Daniang walked out of the house: "You’re back, come inside quickly."
Luo Qiao said with a smile, "Just leaving the living room lights on is fine. You didn’t have to wait up for me."
"When you get to my age, you sleep less. I can’t feel at ease until you’re back. I can’t sleep anyway once I’ve had my fill of hours, no worries."
Luo Qiao felt a warmness in her heart, grateful for how much Elder Rong and Rong Daniang had helped her and Yichen over the years. Without them, she and Yichen couldn’t have pursued their own endeavors with peace of mind.
She vowed silently to take good care of Elder Rong and Rong Daniang in their later years; they had become the couple’s support.
After entering the house, Rong Daniang said, "We made dumplings this evening, and I’ve saved some for you. I’ve just boiled the water, so I’m going to cook them now. Go freshen up first."
Luo Qiao hugged Rong Daniang: "Daniang, you’re the best. I’m actually really hungry today, so please cook a few extra."
Rong Daniang’s face beamed with a smile: "Sure, I’ll cook plenty."
Luo Qiao headed upstairs to check on her two girls and, after seeing that her three little ones hadn’t kicked off their blankets, she took her pajamas and went to take a shower. With her hair wrapped in a towel, she came downstairs.
Rong Daniang greeted her with a smile: "Just in time, the dumplings are ready. I’ve prepared some dipping sauce for you and left a small plate of cold dishes."
Sitting down in front of the steaming dumplings, Luo Qiao looked up, "Thank you, Daniang. I’m going to start eating. I’m really hungry."
Watching Luo Qiao eat with joy, Rong Daniang was happy too.
However, she still asked, "Didn’t you have dinner tonight?"
Luo Qiao swallowed the dumpling in her mouth: "I did, but I took part in a competition today and burned off a lot because of the physical activity, so I’ve digested that bit of dinner long ago."
She didn’t tell Rong Daniang about the boxing match to avoid worrying her.
After finishing off a big plate of dumplings, she felt content and washed up the dishes herself: "Daniang, I’ve cleaned up. Let’s go rest."
Watching Rong Daniang enter her room, Luo Qiao then made her way upstairs.
Tomorrow, she was really looking forward to it!
