As soon as Zhang Shulan said this, everyone in the office looked over. They were no strangers to her talking about her goddaughter.

“Mom, can you make it over on Monday?”
“As you said before, ‘absolutely.’ My daughter is getting engaged; of course, I’ll be there. I must meet your father-in-law and stepmother-in-law, let them know that not only the Luo Family stands behind you but also the Yuan Family.”

“No need to thank me. When the time comes, I’ll have your brothers come over too.”
Luo Qiao burst into laughter, “Mom, are you planning to show them a little bit of our strength?”

“I called grandma earlier, and she said you’d gone out. I figured you might be over there. I’m on my way to you now. Weren’t you looking for someone to take care of the yard? I’ve brought someone for you to meet.”

Luo Qiao got up, took out her camera, and began snapping a few photos around the yard. After that, she moved to the backyard and took some more pictures before putting the camera away.
Seeing nothing else needed to be done, she settled in the pavilion to work on her novel “Meet You”.
After writing nearly two chapters, she heard the doorbell ring and started to pack up before going to the front yard to open the gate.
Lu Yichen walked in with a woman in her fifties, introducing her, “This is my fiancée Luo Qiao.”
Then, turning to Luo Qiao, he said, “This is Auntie Li, she is my comrade’s mother, and her younger son is currently in his first year of high school. She’s looking for a job.”
Luo Qiao smiled and said, “Auntie Li, please come inside.”
It was then that Luo Qiao learned Auntie Li’s real name was Wang Erfeng. Many years ago, her husband had passed away early while saving someone. Her elder son was enlisted in the army, had gotten married and had children, and two years ago had been transferred to a military unit in the south.
Now it was just her and her younger son at home. They lived in a town on the outskirts of the Capital City, counted as urban residents, and didn’t have any land of their own. Her elder son was under a lot of pressure supporting everyone on his own.
She was hoping to find some work to ease her elder son’s burden.
Luo Qiao explained, “Auntie Li, the work here is pretty simple. It’s mainly about taking good care of the yard, cleaning daily, and especially taking care of the flowers and plants in the front and back yards.”
Auntie Li nodded and said, “I used to grow some flowers and plants at home myself, but I’m not sure if I can take good care of the ones here in the yard.”
She had noticed the flowers planted along the courtyard wall when she came in. She had never seen them before and was worried she might not be able to take proper care of them.
