Jia Yan, although very unwilling to have everything about him observed by an unknown creature, could not actually voice any objection at the moment—after all, the creature’s power was immeasurably greater than Jia Yan’s!
Even Rong Bo, who was capable of battling Jia Yan to the death, had no power to resist and was killed directly.
What was more terrifying was that the true body of the observer was in a place far beyond comprehension!
"Hehe, aren’t you blaming me for taking the liberty of watching over you? But don’t worry, I only occasionally check in on you. Most of your affairs are unknown to me," the female voice chuckled lightly.
Her voice was very crisp and could have attracted many men if she had been an Earth girl, based solely on her voice.
However, Jia Yan paid no attention to her voice; rather, he was astonished by the eeriness of it.
"Rest assured! Even I cannot maintain surveillance over someone across tens of thousands of light-years with just a tiny bit of energy. Moreover, you are not worth the greater power it would require for me to watch," she explained.
"I can tell you my purpose. I harbor no malice toward you. I simply observe beings who might attain our level of existence, and you are but one of many young people with a slight potential. Beings like you are as common as dirt."
"However, I am somewhat disappointed in your performance. You are clearly highly potential, yet you have reduced yourself to this. I see your potential is not great, which is also why I took this opportunity to exhaust the energy I had left. After this, the energy I left in you will be completely depleted. In the vast universe, I hope there’s another day we meet."
The voice spoke despondently, her tone seeming to thin, about to disappear.
Previously when she spoke, Jia Yan had almost been unable to respond, as if his body was being suppressed by a force that made it impossible for him to converse effectively.
But now, the force had relaxed, and the oppressive sensation enveloping Jia Yan seemed to fundamentally vanish, about to dissipate entirely.
A thought struck Jia Yan, and he hurriedly shouted out loud using his brainwave power!
"Senior, if you have been watching me all along, you must know my situation. I wonder, how should I proceed if I wish to return to my own starfield?"
"Tens of thousands of light-years are also very far for me... With your power, true transit is difficult... difficult... You should still pursue the Path of Technology..."
The female voice said faintly, her voice becoming more distant, then completely vanishing into the vacuum.
Jia Yan was somewhat surprised to discover that a force he had always noticed inside him but thought was his own was now faintly disappearing.
"So, this power was never mine, but belonged to that being..." Jia Yan’s expression was complex, filled with some emotion.
He still did not know that existences in the universe could be powerful to such an extent. It was almost as terrifying as the omnipotent beings he read about in fantasy novels when he was human!
"She said her power has completely disappeared, which I can’t believe. However, it seems that no ’Shadow’ appears anymore." Jia Yan examined himself, and it seemed that no trace of that external power remained.
This relieved Jia Yan greatly; after all, he certainly did not enjoy the idea that every single action of his could be observed by another being—what kind of freedom would that entail?
"Thinking about it carefully, this existence has been watching me since I was in the Orion Arm, which is terrifying!" Jia Yan slowly recalled everything about this being.
This past memory seemed sealed within Jia Yan, reluctant to be remembered, and he did not know if it was the influence of the power that had been attached inside him.
Now, hearing her voice again resurfaced those memories.
"That Insect Clan’s Star Space Level Expert..." Jia Yan thought back to many years ago when he had encountered the high-ranking expert of the Insect Clan outside the Grey-Yellow Star. Even now, Jia Yan could not discern the expert’s power levels; back then, the expert had released a force even stronger than the expert’s own. Now, it seemed that the being he had just encountered had released that power!
"It was she who attached to me back then? Over all these years, everything about me has been under the observation of such a being... Fortunately, it seems she does not care about my power. My secrets, my identity as an Evolutionary Creature, she did not care at all, probably because the difference in our power levels is just too great."
Thinking of her unfathomable power, Jia Yan realized that his so-called secrets were probably nothing more than a joke to her.
After checking for a good while and really unable to see any abnormal energy inside him anymore, Jia Yan felt somewhat relieved and came back to his senses from his examination.
The space before him had somehow returned to its twisted, eerie state.
Rong Bo’s decapitated corpse floated quietly not far away, facing a Great Level powerful being. Even if he had any means to save his life, it was impossible to use them. He was, of course, dead beyond any doubt!
