The newly formed Earth Team was destined for a sleepless night on ’Beginning’.
Resting atop an Elderwood like a small hill, Jia Yan gazed at the edge of the Yellow Continent. Teams merged into one, singing and dancing. He shook his head slightly.
He found that these alien lifeforms were not that different from the humans on Earth; they were also driven by self-interest, willing to sacrifice themselves for the smallest gains. Up to now, the lifeforms were still grouped together due to his tough threats. Some even held deep-seated grudges without his knowledge, dying in obscurity along the road.
But this was just a temporary situation. Today’s battle had made Jia Yan see the potential of this team to become a powerful force under his guidance in the future.
It would just take time.
"Lord, Lord Assassin..."
Suddenly, Jia Yan heard a rustling noise at his side. Looking down, he saw a small figure under his massive body.
He was lying at the top of a tree which was hundreds of meters tall in the Yellow Continent, pressing the branches down under his weight.
It was easy for him to reach this place but not so for a small bunny-eared child who was not much stronger than a human!
Lulu appeared, looking travel-worn as if she had climbed for a long time to reach the top.
She held onto the tree trunk pitifully, swaying precariously a hundred meters above the ground as if she might fall off at any moment.
"What do you need?" Jia Yan asked, using his Brainwave Power as gently as possible so as not to blow her down.
"I-I-I, I saw you come out of battle covered in dirt, so I wanted to help you clean it."
The childlike Lulu with her chubby face pointed at some dirt on Jia Yan’s body left over from the battle.
Looking down at himself, Jia Yan burst out laughing. He had been reborn for so long and had never paid attention to hygiene. He was fighting earlier and got some dust and dirt on him.
He looked at the little bunny-eared girl, finding it difficult to meet her innocent gaze.
"Go ahead, but be careful not to fall," he finally said, shaking his head somewhat helplessly.
And if he didn’t mishear, he had just said something caring!
This was an unprecedented event. In fact, since his rebirth, this was probably the first time he said something so considerate! After he uttered those words, they felt strange on his tongue.
The little bunny-eared girl didn’t read too much into this. After Jia Yan consented, she gave him a big smile, which looked like a tiny crescent moon. Then she began to slowly and clumsily climb towards Jia Yan’s huge legs.
She held a piece of cloth that she had obtained, and began to gently wipe it along Jia Yan’s leg.
Jia Yan watched her movements, and wanted to ask – with his body so huge, surely a few pieces of cloth wouldn’t be enough to clean him completely without having to wash the cloth? But he held his tongue.
"Lord Assassin, would you like to hear a song? Lulu sings very beautifully," Lulu asked, her voice straining from effort.
Jia Yan smiled wryly, shook his head and said, "Sure, sing if you want to."
"Alright, Lulu will start singing."
Lulu straightened her face, her rabbit ears stood up like she was excited.
She cleared her throat, and soon a melodious voice lightly flowed from her tender lips.
"To my kin from afar..."
"To Ma and Pa from afar..."
"To my distant kin, to my distant hometown."
"Do you know how much I miss you all?"
"The moonlit, scampering animals, the aroma of soil amid the lush grass, the bubbling streams across the landscape. All the good things ..."
"The boisterous warfare in the city, destroyed all of this. The enemy’s powerful battleships obliterated it all."
"I can no longer return, to my family. Nor to my hometown."
Her voice was melodic, truly very beautiful, even beyond the scope of what a child can do!
Compared to the human children of her age, Lulu’s singing talent and natural gifts were far superior. The song she sang seemed to blend with the environment, the wind was her accompaniment, the rustling leaves were her chorus, and the shadows swaying under the dim grey light were her dancers.
Her singing voice was beautiful, even her movements of singing while cleaning started to fall into a rhythm.
But the meaning behind the song lyrics was heartrending – it was evidently a war song.
Jia Yan gave a deep sigh from the bottom of his heart.
At this moment, he felt that these alien lifeforms seemed more vivid to him. Lulu’s passionate performance touched him in a way that made him empathize, even identify strongly with her!
She was pitiful, lamentable, and deserving of sympathy.
Gently, he lowered his huge body, allowing the little bunny-eared girl who was wiping him clean and singing, to sit more securely...
"These lifeforms, although they don’t resemble humans, they are living and intelligent beings. They have their own emotions, their own friends and family. So, how are they different from humans..."
Jia Yan suddenly found himself having more thoughts about species and life.
However, in the dark, a flight monster that had regained its combat strength, and may even be stronger than before, began to vaguely understand more about life on this strange planet.
