A voice, unaffected by surprise, came through the communicator worn on Jia Yan’s head. It was Daphne.
"Did you know there would be such a force? Can we defeat it?" Jia Yan cast a doubtful glance at the battlefield, where the fresh troops, many of them experts, had inflicted severe damage on Earth’s Battle Cars and well-solo fighters who had just broken into the outskirts of Fifth City.
"That was expected. The population of Fifth City is tens of millions, and it’s the headquarters of many surrounding powers, so it’s not strange that many strong citizens could be rallied. In fact, this might just be the tip of the iceberg. But we can win."
Daphne’s reply was extremely straightforward. She seemed not at all surprised by the resistance that had manifested. Her accuracy in reporting the numbers of these improvised resistance forces indicated a frighteningly thorough knowledge of the situation in Fifth City.
Coming to this conclusion, Jia Yan no longer worried.
He knew that Otto Wu’s concern had been that he, Jia Yan, would act now. After all, facing over a hundred of Fifth City’s Peak-level heavenly strongmen, Earth City’s peak-level heavenly strong men were somewhat outnumbered. Otto Wu had feared that if Jia Yan acted, he could potentially wipe them out...
If Jia Yan refrained from action, Fifth City might have opportunities to counter-attack and Earth City might even be crushed by this force!
However, Daphne had evidently anticipated this scenario.
"Snipers, set your energy to the maximum and target the peak-level heavenly enemies for free fire!" Daphne’s icy voice came through the communicator.
With her command, streaks of light shot from the distant Earth Army Main Array towards the battlefield.
Among the civilian experts in Fifth City were members of underground forces and powerful leaders of other groups living in the city. Compared to the strong ones in Earth City, while these experts were sufficiently formidable, they were less experienced in actual combat!
When the light of sniper bullets fluttered down like Rain from Earth City’s formation by the hundred onto those sky-level strong ones none of them realized the existence of such a devastating weapon!
Perhaps they never considered that the punishment weapons Earth City used to deal with deserters would also be turned against enemies.
It was due to Daphne’s versatile tactics that these strong ones met their doom.
In an instant, countless flashes of light and explosions erupted!
The sniper weapons of Earth City consisted mostly of individual battle cars; they were of various types, but shared a remarkable precision. Each shot was of tremendous energy; the major drawback was that due to overheating protection, many of these weapons could not perform successive fire. Hence, these weapons were mostly used for sniper firepower in previous wars. These weapons were also expensive; even Earth City, with its control of the Gold Desert, had only managed to gather just over a hundred of them.
Now these various types of sniper firepower had formed a team, opened their maximum energy and fired on the enemy strong ones, creating an unusually beautiful scene!
Streaks of light shot through the air and traced across the night sky, like horizontal fireworks illuminating the world with dazzling stripes of color.
However, this beautiful sight brought forth a horrific, bloody scene!
One after another, heroes from Fifth City, those who’d exposed themselves, were struck directly by the sniper fire of Earth City. As strong beings in the Starry Sky, they were inevitably large, and thus made perfect targets for the sniper fire of Earth City!
Caught off guard, the casualties on their side soared at an alarming pace!
"No! Retreat to the city! They won’t be able to maintain their sniper firepower with the protection of the buildings!" A strongman from Fifth City screamed in fright.
Thanks to his command, others stopped blindly confronting the Earth City army and started retreating into the central part of Fifth City, fighting back as they went.
However, within this brief moment, the sniper rays from Earth City had claimed the lives of over twenty peak-level heavenly powers from their side, not to mention a hundred others with sky and earth levels!
This was indeed a great achievement.
"Pursue! Don’t let them regroup!" Daphne’s voice echoed from below.
Standing in the air above, Jia Yan watched as the troop of Earth City battle cars crossed the outer perimeter of the city’s fortified wirings and drove into the dazzling city...
"They’ve finally entered the city. Now is the time to demonstrate our ’resolution’."
Looking at the scene, a flash of light blinked in his eyes.

His name was Doge and he was a member of the Three-Armed Tribe. Due to what his ancestors had done, his family had become serial drug lords in the Grey-Yellow Star’s Gold Desert from generations ago.
However, as they were part of a small power, they’ve always lived on the edge. Even when Doge became a Sky-level Strong, with some capability, the situation remained the same.
To most life forms in the Gold Desert, Fifth City was a lofty place, akin to heaven. Previously, he too had dreamed of living in this city. But after one visit, he never had that thought again.
It wasn’t that Fifth City was exclusive; here, if you had money or power, you could easily blend in because this Starry City fought for interests only.
