The conversation they exchanged was absolutely terrifying.
"What? Are you scared? If you’re afraid, just pretend I didn’t say anything. Actually, I’ve already found the weakness of the Giant Mosquito and caught some clues about the spaceship’s data. My plan is not as simple as becoming a pilot, here’s the detailed plan..."
A murmuring voice gradually came across.
After a moment, the man’s voice finally stopped.
"How about it, what do you think of this plan!"
"You... came up with such an idea! That’s too, too wildly imaginative. But... I do like your style of thinking, let’s do it!"
After their clandestine rendezvous in these gloomy surroundings, the two shadowy figures exchanged a few words and then vanished once more.
No one knew what they were discussing!
However, it wasn’t as though a couple of humans could make any significant impact on their Earth by plotting some sabotage or attack. After their conversation, Earth was filled with zealous fervor, each human aglow with excitement.
It wasn’t that the Earth people had been brainwashed, but they had truly gone through all those hard times. Now that good results were appearing, they naturally felt intense empathy.
Moreover, they didn’t work in the factory for four months solely to get the spaceship aloft!
The change that has swept across the entire Earth over the past four months is unbelievable, unimaginable to anyone!
The changes brought about by the Big Mosquito were substantial.
One after another, those metal beasts, each with utterly unique configurations, began assisting Earth people in building homes, working with incredible speed and meticulous attention to detail, essentially ruling out technical or quality issues for the construction projects.
A team of thirty to fifty mechanical monsters could erect an approximate ten-story structure overnight. However, most of the houses on Earth weren’t that tall now. The Union Government wanted to make the remaining humans live comfortably, so the buildings they constructed were essentially individual single-family homes.
The living conditions changed all of a sudden, as if they’ve gone from hell to heaven!
Even the research into the physical composition of humans has been advancing for a while among Earth City’s scholars. Since most of them are multi-talented, it isn’t out of the ordinary that two of them possess considerable medical knowledge.
After studying some materials and making comparison, they started using some effective medicines for humans, resulting in a significant drop in the death rate!
However, it isn’t entirely a good thing for humans to suddenly enter a comfortable environment. After all, a species will naturally die out if there is no competition or survival pressure. But the Earth people had suffered too much in the past, so after consulting with the Big Mosquito, the Alliance decided to let the Earth people live a relatively decent life for now.
The days of the future are still long, and competition will have to be reintroduced on Earth eventually.
No one thought that the recruitment for spaceship pilots would have started a widespread competition and underground contest among the majority of the people on Earth!
Many young people rushed to the registration point. For the mere 7,500 ’spaceship pilot’ slots, over fifty-five million people swarmed the registration points across Earth, creating an incredible gathering!
"First, we’ll test your physical condition. You won’t be able to pilot a spaceship with enormous overload capability if your physical condition isn’t up to par."
"Then we’ll check your bodily flexibility, the spaceship alone contains thousands of control buttons. You need to memorize the function of every button and maximize the dexterity of your fingers!"
"Don’t be anxious! Most of the 7,500 slots are for normal jobs. If you’re willing to do the dirty and hard work, there’s a good chance you’ll become a crew member."
Only after entering the registration point will individuals see detailed information about the spaceship. They only learnt then that a fleet doesn’t only require pilots to fly. It also needs support staff, surveys, early warnings, rangings and many other positions, Although pilots probably still refer to those few specific individuals, even in states of emergency, one or two individuals could potentially raise a small twenty-meter level spaceship into the sky. However, a full set of crew configurations would never consist of less than ten crew members per spaceship!
Yet, among the fifty million plus people at each registration point, the competition for these positions was still fierce. Only a small portion were selected from the registrants.
"Huh? There are also Reserves! Wow, the reserve force is actually thirty-thousand strong! Even if I can’t become a regular spaceship member, there’s still the reserve force option, and even free housing allocation!"
Some sharp-eyed people discovered that at the registration points, in addition to competing for regular pilot roles, there was also the option to become a defender in the Reserves.
However, the benefits for reserves were far less than regular spaceship members. In comparison to the common working Earth people, it wasn’t much better, which deterred many young people from participating.
Of course, with the vast population, there were still plenty of young aspirants longing for space who registered.
The registration process proceeded much slower than expected. Due to the overwhelming crowds, it practically halted for a day or two. After three days, the registration process finally finished entirely!
