He glanced back, ready to make his escape at speed, but out of the corner of his eye, he exchanged a fleeting glance with the beings from the Angel Camp who brushed past him during his escape.
In that instant, Jia Yan revealed a kindly expression to them, albeit brief, and possibly too fleeting for either side to make out the other’s face, but he did it all the same.
The beings from the Angel Camp were rare friends in the lonely life he had led.
This meeting, Jia Yan had a premonition, might be the last time they ever saw each other.
"Goodbye, my friends..."
He whispered softly to himself from the bottom of his heart.
Perhaps it was because the members of the Angel Camp affected his speed and vigilance, a swiftly approaching claw from behind caught him unawares!
Jia Yan’s body was directly hit by a claw from Pai Lan, violently sent flying!
By sheer coincidence, the direction he was sent flying in was where the elevator passage was located.
Mid-air, Jia Yan’s body flashed with bluish light urgently, the Bluish Defense seeming to reach its limit once again. As ripping sounds continually arose from it, and several large cracks appeared, the Bluish Defense miraculously withstood Pai Lan’s claw!
"Impossible! It even withstood my claw at ninety percent strength; previously, it couldn’t block even seventy percent of my strength!" Pai Lan shouted from behind, somewhat fearfully.
It wasn’t a loss of the composure befitting a Strong One, but rather Jia Yan’s condition was unimaginably weird to him. This being had previously been laughably weak, fending off his attacks only with some mysterious defensive power, but now that his attack strength had increased to ninety percent, not even the Bluish Defense could be breached!
"Lord Pai Lan, we’re here to assist you!"
With a loud cry, a group of beings in uniform equipment soared up from the ground.

"Jia Yan is in danger. With such a combined attack, if it were us taking it on, even a slight touch would spell death," the Four-eyed Monster mused uncertainly from below, watching the battle above.
Actually, after making this judgment, it wanted to overturn its own conclusion, because Jia Yan had previously blocked even Lord Pai Lan’s attacks. Although many soldiers and Strong Ones were attacking in unison this time, their might not be stronger than a single attack from Lord Pai Lan.
True enough, when the attack ended, the observing powerhouses below saw at the center of all the bombardment, a rapidly moving bluish ’shadow’ fiercely burst out, heading straight for a Monster Soldier from the Mid-Starry Sky Period.
His speed was no less than that of a Mid-term powerhouse, and compared to the opponent’s fear, the determination in his eyes was even more intense.
In just a moment, they collided.
The Mid-term powerhouse only felt an irresistible force suddenly smashing into his body, and afterward, he found himself involuntarily flying backward.
Jia Yan, with a single strike, sent this being, who was possibly no weaker than the Mantis Referee, flying with a direct hit!
