Shi Mei’s heart skipped a beat, and even her lips tensed unconsciously as she looked at Shi Lingyan’s serious and earnest expression. She laughed briefly, "Confess what?"
Shi Lingyan smiled and took another step closer, "Confess, the true identity hidden behind that mask of yours."
"Is that so," Shi Mei said, her surprise evident, followed by anger as she exclaimed, "How could she do this, no, impossible, Sister Ye couldn’t possibly betray me!"
Shi Lingyan remained composed, his voice softening as he said from the side, "I’m afraid I’m going to disappoint you. I promised to invest in a branch store for her, so naturally, I sold you out."
"No, it can’t be..." Shi Mei’s face was a mask of disappointment as she collapsed heavily onto the couch, as if she’d been dealt a massive blow, "Sister Ye couldn’t possibly be so unscrupulous; you must be lying to me."
For once, Shi Lingyan’s usually calm and collected expression showed a trace of change.

Shi Mei sensed his gaze and quickly covered her mouth, the picture of despair and misery as she said, "Why? Now even Sister Ye has betrayed me. Who else can I trust in this world?"
Shi Mei’s voice was neither too loud nor too quiet, just loud enough for Ye Tiao, who had been hiding in the room for quite some time, to hear.
Ye Tiao was frantic, scratching at her own chest.
