Shi Mei couldn't stand it anymore and tugged at Shi Lingyan's clothes.
Shi Lingyan, without a change in expression, withdrew his clothes from her grasp and didn't even give Shi Mei a glance. He only said to Tang Jingming in a faint voice, "Take her back."
"I'm not going back," came Shi Mei's weak voice, filled with timid grievance, "Shi Mei wants to be with her husband."
Shi Lingyan's brows furrowed slightly.
Tang Jingming, however, listening to her timid and feeble voice, felt his heart melting. He stepped forward to pull her, saying, "Sister Shi, be good. Your husband is busy with work, how about your brother keeps you company?"
"I don't want brother, I want my husband," Shi Mei's voice was soft, and her big, red eyes stared straight at Shi Lingyan, showing a very obvious dependence.
Just like a young animal dependent on its parent.
Tang Jingming felt somewhat jealous and said with a touch of sourness, "I've spent more time with you than he has, how come you only recognize him and not me?"
Shi Mei seemed to consider this question seriously, tilting her head and saying, "Because, he's my husband."
Shi Lingyan's frown deepened, "Who taught you these words?"
Although they were already married, the number of times they had actually met could be counted on one hand.
Before, when Shi Mei saw him, she couldn't hide fast enough, so how could she display such a close and affectionate demeanor now?
Considering the impressionability of a five-year-old child, Shi Lingyan had no doubt that someone must have instilled these thoughts in her.
And that person could not be anyone from the Shi Family.
After all, more than half a year had passed; if the Shi Family had come to their senses, they would have had her cling to him long ago, so why wait until now?
Indeed, as soon as Shi Lingyan asked this question, he got the answer he had anticipated.
Shi Mei blinked innocently and honestly replied, "Sister Bai said it. She said that after Shi Mei marries her husband, he will take care of me and give me candies..." While speaking, she seemed to keenly notice the slight change in Shi Lingyan's expression, and her voice gradually weakened.

Bai Yuejie was certainly not unaware of what Shi Lingyan's attitude towards Shi Mei was.
Deliberately saying such things to Shi Mei, knowing she was not smart, wasn't this purposefully making Shi Mei provoke Shi Lingyan's displeasure?
Shi Lingyan's face darkened slightly, "What else did she say?"
Shi Mei became a bit too afraid to speak and timidly hid behind Tang Jingming.
Tang Jingming patted her hand, soothingly encouraging her, "Don't be afraid, tell him."
Shi Mei pouted, her expression like that of someone who knows they've done wrong, and she hung her head, not daring to speak.
Tang Jingming coaxed her, "Tell us what else Sister Bai said to you, and brother will buy you candies."
Upon hearing this, Shi Mei's face brightened with some luster, the delight of a young girl promised candies readily apparent, innocent and pure, "Sister Bai said that Shi Mei needs to have children for her husband, they will be as cute as Shi Mei," she said, grinning at Shi Lingyan, her cheeks revealing dimples, a look of longing in her eyes, "Shi Mei wants to have children, to have lots and lots of babies for my husband!"
Shi Lingyan's face turned ashen, and he coldly dropped a few words, "Take her back."
Then, he turned and walked away.
Tang Jingming also felt it was too much, indignantly saying, "How can she say such a thing, it's too much, knowing full well your feelings towards my sister..."
Shi Lingyan didn't stop his stride and quickly disappeared around the corner ahead.
However, neither Tang Jingming nor Shi Lingyan noticed the unusual depth in the eyes of this little fool, imbued with a hint of calculation.
In a moment, it was perfectly concealed within those overly bright eyes, leaving not a trace to be discerned.
