Shi Mei immediately stood up, her face full of excitement as she said, "So, Tang Baobei is going on a date with me tomorrow?"
"I can let him keep you company," Shi Lingyan said lazily with a sideways glance, "it’s not a date."
"Oh, oh." Shi Mei nodded, but the sparkle in her dark, shiny eyes remained bright and eager as she trotted off toward the walk-in closet.
Shi Lingyan watched her excited, happy little figure.
It seemed like she just wanted to have fun, whether it was a date or not didn’t seem to matter.
With this realization, Shi Lingyan’s mood instantly became much lighter.
But then, he realized he was wrong.
Shi Mei hurriedly pulled a bunch of clothes from the wardrobe, tossing them all onto the bed, and called out, "Husband, husband, which outfit do you think is prettier?"
Saying this, she held a beautiful pink suit up against herself.
"Husband, does this look good?"
Shi Lingyan glanced at it, "Hmm... it’s okay."
Shi Mei: "What about this one?"
Shi Mei’s face fell as she threw the clothes aside, saying, "Why do you always have the same response!"
Shi Lingyan looked at the pink teddy bear hat and said directly, "How is this any different from what you usually wear?"
"It’s different, this one has a bear!" Shi Mei pouted, "I used to like wearing bunny ones!"
"Oh." In the end, they’re both things kids like.
Shi Mei asked again, "Does it look good?"
But before Shi Lingyan could finish, he caught Shi Mei’s woeful gaze.
Shi Mei puffed her cheeks, her eyebrows twisted into a figure eight as she held the teddy bear hat and looked at him.
Shi Lingyan was about to speak but took a turn and said, "It’s passable."
Shi Mei, out of frustration, threw the clothes and sat down on the bed with her arms crossed, exclaiming, "How is that any different from ’it’s okay’!"
Shi Lingyan: "’It’s okay’ has two words, ’it’s passable’ has three."
Shi Mei, about to cry, pouted and shouted, "I don’t want three words, I want you to say it’s beautiful!"
Shi Lingyan: "Beautiful, beautiful."
Shi Mei immediately stopped crying and sniffled as she asked him, "Really?"
Shi Lingyan: "Really."
Shi Mei sniffled, picked up the clothes, and neatly folded each item before quietly putting them back in the wardrobe.
But she left out that one teddy bear suit.
Shi Lingyan watched as Shi Mei carefully folded the teddy bear suit and placed it next to her pillow, saying, "Husband, you have to remember for tomorrow, I’m going on a date with Tang Baobei!"
Shi Lingyan: "...Okay."
Shi Mei was then content, rolled onto the bed, and covered herself with the blanket, closing her eyes with a satisfied expression.
Shi Lingyan suddenly felt a pang in his heart.
Why was there this feeling like his own child had run off with someone else?
The next day, Shi Lingyan was woken up by Shi Mei’s noise.
Shi Mei bounced around getting washed and then sat at the vanity desk making a ruckus.
When Shi Lingyan opened his eyes, his gaze happened to fall on the reflection in the mirror.
He instantly woke up in shock.
Shi Mei was applying a lipstick shaped like a gory, gaping mouth and grinned at Shi Lingyan, "Husband, you’re awake!"
Her voice was sweet and adorable, yet combined with that face, Shi Lingyan shivered, "What are you doing?"
With her face pale as a ghost, Shi Mei puckered her gory mouth and beamed, "Makeup! I’m going on a date! I have to look beautiful!"
Then, Shi Mei asked shyly, "Husband, do I look pretty?"
Shi Lingyan: "...Yeah, beautiful."
