In just an hour, the news of Brandon Piers’ failed heart surgery spread like wildfire.
Ruby Green had just learned about it, and her face looked extremely ugly. “Failed surgery? Is he dead?”
“He shouldn’t be, but he probably won’t live long.” Jackson Taylor answered cautiously. Although he was Ruby Green’s uncle, he had relied on Ruby and her mother for the past few years, so he was especially diligent, knowing how important this engagement with the Piers family was to Ruby.

“I’m stating facts. Isn’t Dean Foster the best cardiothoracic surgeon in the country? Why can’t he cure Master Brandon’s illness? I don’t want to become a widow right after getting married.” Although this way she could be in charge immediately, being a widow would be unpleasant, and she might even be blamed for bringing misfortune to her husband.
However, what worried Ruby more was the Piers family canceling the engagement because of the surgery before the engagement, which would result in nothing for her.
“The top priority now is not to cancel the engagement.” Jackson Taylor quietly reminded.
“Is there any other news from the Piers family?” Ruby’s heart tightened upon hearing this. Regardless of Brandon’s current condition, she didn’t want any mishaps with the engagement.
“Then let’s pretend we don’t know. We’ll deal with it on the day of the engagement.” Ruby angrily said, cursing her bad luck in her heart. Today was really unlucky. Clark Stone had found a bunch of useless people, failing to kill Abigail or even record the video. Now Brandon had this incident before the engagement. None of them gave her peace of mind.
“Your mom said the same. But don’t worry, the Piers family will be more anxious than us. After all, Teddy needs his mom more under these circumstances.” Jackson Taylor finished speaking, with a hint of expectation in his heart. As long as his niece married into the Piers family, he would become Master Brandon’s uncle.
