Huo Sining put the little German Shepherd down, intending to leave, but suddenly paused and turned back to the middle-aged dog seller and said:
"Uncle, since you don’t want the dog anymore, why not just give it to me? It’s not dead yet. I’ll take it to the pet hospital to see if it can be cured."
The middle-aged vendor hesitated, "This dog has canine distemper. It won’t get better without spending seven or eight hundred yuan at the pet hospital, and even if it does get better, there might be complications."
"That’s fine, I won’t mind," Huo Sining nodded, unbothered by the seller’s concerns.
Seeing this, the middle-aged vendor could only reluctantly pull the snakeskin bag from the pile of trash behind him and hand it over to Huo Sining.
Huo Sining took the snakeskin bag, and the dog that had been struggling inside seemed to have stopped moving.
Feeling panicky, Huo Sining quickly reached in to rescue the puppy from the snakeskin bag.
Once the snakeskin bag was opened, a gray-brown German Shepherd puppy was revealed.
Presumably because it was too stifling inside the snakeskin bag, after its desperate struggle, its limbs had stiffened, and there were streaks of blood at the corners of its mouth.
The puppy lay curled up inside the snakeskin bag, its body trembling uncontrollably.
Seeing Huo Sining approach, the weak puppy opened its eyes and looked at her, its clear eyes filled with innocence and confusion.
Huo Sining didn’t know how to treat illnesses, but the frail body, fluffy and dirty fur, and dim eyes were clear signs to anyone observant that the puppy was seriously ill.
Besides being abandoned by its owner, being locked inside that snakeskin bag was almost a death sentence.
Had anyone else found it, they surely would have thought the dog was beyond saving.
Huo Sining sighed inwardly, after all, it was a life at stake, and it was cruel to allow such a small puppy to suffer so much before its death.
Gazing upon the unknowingly weak state of the dog, Huo Sining’s heart overflowed with sympathy. It was a life, and she couldn’t just stand by and watch it die.
With that in mind, she picked up the puppy and hurriedly left the pet market.
Perhaps sensing Huo Sining’s goodwill, the previously distressed and struggling puppy gradually calmed down, laboriously nuzzling Huo Sining’s arm and even extending its tongue to lick her palm.
Her palm felt wet and ticklish. Sensing the puppy’s painful breathing and its distressed whimpers, Huo Sining soothingly stroked the puppy’s head and then quietly channeled Spiritual Energy into its body.
In just a few short minutes, the puppy’s eyes sparkled with vivacity, its large, black, bright eyes wide open and curiously observing everything around it.
Huo Sining found it amusing and felt relieved that the puppy seemed to be alright. She returned to her car and took out a bottle of water. After infusing it with Spiritual Energy, she poured some into her palm and tentatively offered the water to the puppy.
The puppy gently sniffed with its nose, elegantly stuck out its tongue to lick, smacked its mouth, and then suddenly started lapping up the water as if tasting something delicious, eagerly darting its tongue out desperately.
"Slow down, slow down!"
Seeing the dog’s eagerness, Huo Sining was both amused and delighted until the pup finished lapping up all the water in her palm, only then did it stop.
Since the dog had just been healed by Huo Sining’s Spiritual Energy, its body was still very weak, so Huo Sining didn’t dare to feed it too much at first.
However, it seemed that the puppy had realized the benefits of the water and, sensing that Huo Sining was not feeding it anymore, immediately became unhappy. It struggled discontentedly, whimpering softly, and even kept licking Huo Sining’s fingers, looking at her appealingly as if to ask her to continue feeding it water.
Huo Sining was instantly captivated by this little creature. Considering the water was infused with the Spiritual Energy of Azure Pearl, it should greatly aid the body’s recovery. Not being stingy, she simply placed the pup in the trunk of her car, then took out a box capable of holding water from her storage ring and put a large box of water down in front of the puppy.
The puppy approached and sniffed, then wriggled out of Huo Sining’s arms and went over to the box to start drinking. The sound of gulping echoed loudly.
In less than fifteen minutes, the wounds on the dog’s body began to heal gradually, the injuries and bruises that had been left by struggling visibly healed as if cured without treatment!
Having drunk its fill, the puppy perhaps sensed that its body was better and suddenly became extremely excited. It darted over to Huo Sining in a few steps, panting. It barked twice at Huo Sining with its mouth open and then stuck out its tongue, trying to lick her.
The little guy wagged its tail, its wet eyes staring at Huo Sining, looking very spirited—it was impossible to tell that just over ten minutes ago it had been gravely ill, with one foot already in Ghost Gate Pass.
Not only that, but the dog’s coat now looked both glossy and healthy. Huo Sining stroked it a few times and found the fur to be very smooth and soft, completely different from the texture it had before!
Huo Sining looked around to make sure no one noticed her and quickly put the puppy into the storage ring’s Space. Only then did she return to picking precious old plants at the flower and plant market.
Huo Sining was dead set on buying precious old plants, for regular plants no longer caught her eye, as old plants were more valuable than the common ones.
Huo Sining’s method of selecting old plants wasn’t particularly clever, as she was still not very familiar with them despite having crammed a lot of knowledge recently. However, with Heavenly Eye, she wasn’t too worried about getting a bad deal.
Old plants vary between precious and ordinary varieties. Common varieties like thuja, pine, boxwood, and old elm could be considered common old plants. If they are of excellent shape and spirit, they can be deemed as fine specimens, commanding prices ranging from fifty to a hundred thousand on the market.
Of course, these can’t compare to the likes of Golden Osmanthus, rosewood, and Red Acid Branch Wood. But the old plants of these varieties are too expensive and difficult to authenticate. Huo Sining did not trust her ability to differentiate these top-quality old plants at a glance, so even if she came across them, she wouldn’t dare to make a move.
With care, Huo Sining chose old plants, only buying when the price and shape were right. Even so, she managed to acquire over a dozen different types, including spider plants, walnuts, camellia, peonies, and even got an old grapevine as a bonus.
As the market was about to close and Huo Sining had reaped a bountiful harvest, she decided to head home.
But just as she turned the corner to the street, she saw a crowd gathered ahead.
Curious, Huo Sining walked closer and learned that there had been an accident.
