Lin Jing listened to Wu Yifan’s words, raised her eyebrows, and smiled, “I haven’t done anything wrong, so why should I flee? I’m just going to visit a friend. What, do I need to report to Chief Wu before I can go?”
“If you haven’t done anything wrong,” Wu Yifan said with a smile, “you wouldn’t be just visiting friends—you could leave now and never come back, and I wouldn’t be able to stop you. But Lin Jing, you’ve caused trouble, and now you think you can just run away? Do you think I’d let you go?”

“Bully?” Wu Yifan said with another smile upon hearing her words. “Would I come after you if you hadn’t bullied someone else?”
“Wu Yifan, I think you’ve lost your mind. Is it because you haven’t found Su Xiaofeng, so you’re pinning it on me? Yes, Su Xiaofeng caused my father to be locked up, and our Lin Family’s good days are over. I’m extremely displeased with that woman and wish never to see her again. But I’m kind-hearted and incapable of harming others, so Chief Wu, if you’re looking to question me about Su Xiaofeng, I really don’t know anything.”
“I truly haven’t provoked her, nor do I want to. I can’t afford to provoke her, okay? My train is about to arrive; I need to catch it. If Wu Yifan caused her any delay here, she would miss the train.

If you want to arrest me, you need to have an arrest warrant. Do you have one?” It was impossible; how could they have found Su Xiaofeng so swiftly and confirmed it was her doing?
She was only ten minutes from freedom. If they were just ten minutes later, she could have fled far away, and they would never find her.
“Of course, we have one.” Wu Yifan looked at her coldly. “You think you can just commit a crime and flee, disappearing so that no one can find you? Zhang Dacai has already confessed everything, claiming that you were the mastermind intending to ruin Su Xiaofeng.”
“It’s not me, and it couldn’t possibly be me. Just because he says it was me doesn’t make it true. Where’s the evidence? He could be biting back in desperation. I’ve said it before, although I don’t get along with Su Xiaofeng, I have never thought of harming her. Whether or not you believe me, Chief Wu Yifan, this matter truly has nothing to do with me.”
Zhang Dacai’s accusation against her was useless without proof; without evidence, it was merely a false claim, fabricated and not credible.
“If we’ve found you here, it’s because we have evidence.” Wu Yifan waved his hand, not wanting to waste more words on Lin Jing, and ordered her to be taken away.
No sooner had Wu Yifan brought Lin Jing to the police station than Grandma Lin showed up.
Without a word, she knelt before Wu Yifan, streaming tears and snot, “Yifan, you and Jingjing were once engaged, and even though you can no longer be husband and wife, the bond of friendship remains, right? Besides, our two families have always had a good relationship, surely you won’t relentlessly trample on our family just because Jianguo got into trouble.”
“Yifan, our Lin Family cannot afford more trouble. If you must arrest someone, take me, this old woman. I’m willing to take the blame for Lin Jing. Our family cannot take more disasters; if Lin Jing gets into trouble, this old woman won’t want to live anymore.” Jianguo’s trouble was yet unresolved, and now Lin Jing was in trouble.

Grandma truly cared for her. She hadn’t been home for nearly half a year, and during that time, she never once asked how grandma was doing at home. Upon returning, Grandma didn’t pry but treated her with the same care and concern as always.
