Reborn Heiress Is Remarrying Chapter 92

Chapter 92: Suspicions

Leon’s voice had been heavy on the phone earlier that morning.

He’d informed her of the final court decision, Leon had won custody of Arthur, and the divorce was finalised with every asset and every secret falling into his lap.

"Be careful, Diane," Leon had urged in a low tone before hanging up. "There are dangerous people still circling. Watch your back."

Diane had spent the rest of the day dreading the whispers that would follow her every move.

She and Riot arrived together at work, even before stepping through the revolving doors, the murmurs had already started.

Her colleagues turned heads and exchanged glances.

As Diane walked confidently toward her office, a small smile tugged at her lips.

Rumors might stick to her like shadows, but she refused to be defined by them.

When she reached her office, Riot was waiting by the door with a freshly made cup of coffee in hand.

"Boss, your favourite," he said. "Coffee’s on me."

"Thanks, Riot," she replied, accepting the cup with a grateful nod.

As she settled at her desk, she scanned the morning headlines on her computer.

Her fingers hovered over the keyboard as she typed out a few emails, but her mind was already drifting toward thoughts of Gabriel.

His involvement, and importantly, his money.

It wasn’t just wealth—it was power, and Diane knew that if Adrian was still out there, he would be after it.

Riot noticed her distracted gaze.

"You alright?" he asked softly, setting his coffee aside as he took a seat across from her.

Diane sighed, leaning back in her chair.

"I can’t stop thinking about Gabriel’s part in all this. His wealth, his assets... if Adrian’s still alive, you know exactly what he’ll want to do."

Riot frowned.

"Adrian’s a wild card. But you’ve always been one step ahead. What are you planning to do?"

She looked out the window.

"I’m going to protect what’s mine—and what could be mine. Gabriel’s money isn’t just his legacy; it’s his security against any further threats. If Adrian comes knocking, I want to make sure everything is safe, locked down."

Riot took a sip of his coffee, nodding slowly. "I’ve got your back, Diane. We can set up a secure line, move the funds into a trust—anything to keep Adrian at bay."

A small smile played at the corner of her mouth.

"That’s why I need you, Riot. I trust you more than anyone right now."

Just then, her phone buzzed with a new message.

Diane glanced at it and winced slightly at the anonymous number flashing on the screen.

She hesitated, then opened it. It was a short, cryptic message: -You can’t hide what’s yours. Be ready.-

Her eyes narrowed, and her pulse quickened.

"Riot, did you see this?" she asked, holding up her phone for him to see.

He leaned over, "This isn’t good, Diane. It sounds like a warning from Adrian, perhaps."

"If he’s alive, then he’s playing games. I’ve got to secure Gabriel’s accounts, his investments, everything. I can’t let him take it all."

Riot tapped a finger on the desk, thinking aloud.

"We should consider hiring extra security for your financial data and maybe even a private investigator. We need to find out if Adrian is really pulling strings behind the scenes."

"No, not now. We need to keep a low profile. I can’t afford another scandal."

At that moment, the office door swung.

A well-dressed man in a tailored suit stepped in.. "Mrs. Frost?" he addressed her politely.

"Yes?" Diane replied.

"I’m Andrew Morales from the corporate security team. We’ve noticed some unusual activity on our financial servers and have been asked to monitor sensitive transactions. I need to ask you a few questions regarding recent transfers."

"What kind of activity?" she asked, trying to keep her tone calm.

Andrew hesitated for a moment before replying, "There have been attempts to access accounts linked to Mr. Gabriel Frost. We suspect someone is trying to reroute funds."

"Who would do that?" she demanded.

Andrew shook his head.

"We’re not sure yet. But we’re reviewing the logs. I recommend you change all your passwords immediately and let us know if you notice any other irregularities."

"Andrew, can we get a full report by the end of the day? I’d like to review the data personally."

Andrew nodded. "Of course. I’ll send everything to your secure line."

Diane rubbed her temples, "Every move we make now has to be calculated," she murmured.

"Diane, listen. I know the media’s already got your name out there, and the public believes you’re behind Evelyn’s disappearance. But you have to remember—this is about protecting what’s rightfully yours. And that means keeping Gabriel’s and your own fortune out of Adrian’s reach."

"But now... now I’m caught between a rock and a hard place."

"Use your reputation, use your connections—get a good team to secure everything."

"It’s my freedom, my future. If Adrian takes over, if he gets his hands on Gabriel’s wealth... I’ll lose everything I’ve worked for."

Riot reached across the desk, placing his hand over hers.

"Then let’s lock it down. I’ll call up my contacts, see if we can get a secure vault set up for those accounts. We’ll hide the money, Diane. I promise."

She managed a small smile. "Thank you, Riot. I know I can always count on you."

"Believe me..."

Riot left for another cup of coffee, and Diane was left alone.

Adrian wasted no time, and she couldn’t afford to make Gabriel overthink again.

Diane didn’t want him to believe she was going to steal all his money again, she only needed it to protect it for him...to protect Gabriel too...

"Why is this life so fucking hard?"

Diane smiled, looking at her computer.

"No...not this...this sounds like a scam...not this..."

She was muttering to herself, trying to find the right people.

And then, just like that, something hit her...

"Micha should have connections to such people...he could also track down Adrian for me..."
