Reborn in the 1980s: Recapture My Devoted Husband Chapter 53

The ingredients prepared today still have some leftovers; it’s hot weather, and they can’t be eaten tomorrow.

Liang Hongmei, fearing waste, boiled the leftover meat in the pot and made sauced meat. She added more salt so it could last longer.

In the evening, Lin Wan, not feeling tired, excitedly sat in the house and counted the money made today, penny by penny.

There weren’t many people today, so it took just a few moments to finish counting, totaling eight yuan and three dimes. After counting, Lin Wan counted once again.

It wasn’t that she counted wrong; counting the money gave her peace of mind.

The next day, Liang Hongmei continued her business at the early market, selling, and then preparing ingredients for the restaurant without delay.

Today wasn’t like yesterday; at least by noon, only three or four people were attended to, very quiet.

But in the evening, the porridge sold quite well. The relatives who drank porridge yesterday mentioned it in the ward, and some really came to buy it.

During hospitalization, regardless of whether the family has money or not, patients won’t be mistreated in terms of food. The reason she makes nutritious porridge is also that oily food isn’t suitable for patients.

This porridge is most suitable for patients.

With the hot weather now, there would always be some leftovers in the midday preparation; if not finished by evening, Liang Hongmei no longer made sauced meat, she directly coated the meat with some flour, fried it, and kept it for themselves.

They’re just two people; how can they finish all that food? The result is that it goes to waste.

After a few days, Lin Wan took her notebook and calculated for a long time, adding and subtracting, and in five days, only earned more than twenty yuan. At least they earned enough for the rent.

However, for their just starting stage, it’s already quite good.

It’s partly because there are few people, mainly they couldn’t manage the vegetables and meat they sold well, always leaving leftovers; due to the hot weather, it couldn’t be stored, losing quite a bit of money. She wanted to buy a freezer, but in this era, it’s not common to see them even in Guangzhou and Shanghai. Besides, she didn’t have any money.

"Mom, let’s try selling these fried meats at the early market, to see if anyone wants them," Lin Wan closed the notebook and discussed with Liang Hongmei.

"Alright, let’s try tomorrow, how much per pound?" The meat they bought wasn’t cheap.

"Fifty cents per half pound," Lin Wan calculated the costs and after pondering for a while, said.

Liang Hongmei nodded, "That works, we don’t have much leftovers; if we can sell some, we’ll sell some."

Early the next day, Lin Wan and Liang Hongmei prepared the flatbreads and baked cakes, took out the fried meat from the well, placed them in a basin, and went to the early market.

"Comrade, today we have fried chicken pieces, fried ribs, fried crispy meat, would you like some? Fifty cents per half pound, it can be used to make soup dish when you go home at noon," Lin Wan greeted each person buying their flatbreads with a smile and introduced them.

"Fifty cents per half pound? That’s a bit expensive, huh?" Some curiously asked.

"It’s not expensive, uncle, these are fresh meat we selected, coated with eggs and fried in oil. It’s quite laborious. Besides, ribs in the market sell for twenty-three cents and require ticket; we don’t require ticket and don’t charge you extra,"

"Give me half a pound," some people might be reluctant, but not everyone was unwilling, out of ten, there’d always be one or two willing.

They didn’t have much leftovers; with one or two people buying, there wouldn’t be much left.

After buying the ingredients needed for today at the early market, Lin Wan went to the store and ran across two blocks, buying some white paper and black thick pens, and some colored pens.

At the store, she wrote and drew for half a day, posting the promotions she’d drawn.

Today they sold enough leftovers to make five or six servings of crispy meat. Lin Wan thought of doing a promotion.
