Chapter 738: Chapter 738: Did You Run into Someone You Know?
Hu Haiyun knew that she would never be able to have children in this lifetime. No matter how advanced medical science became, she would never have the chance to be a mother.
She wanted to adopt a goddaughter, and there were more than a few friends who wanted to send their kids to her and see her as a godmother. But Haiyun knew these people weren’t sincere.
She admired Tong Yue and had thought about adopting her as a goddaughter. However, she wasn’t sure whether Tong Yao would agree. Even though their relationship was pretty good, she still wanted to respect Yao’s opinions on such matters.
Tong Yao was surprised to learn of Haiyun’s intention, but she understood it.
She didn’t immediately respond, instead she turned to her parents, "Dad, Mom, what do you think?"
Tong Yaohui and Wen Yun exchanged glances. Yaohui smiled and said, "We don’t mind this. Having one more person to care about Yue, I couldn’t be happier."
Wen Yun, however, candidly said: "We have no objections, but Yueyue is full of ideas. Despite her young age, she is full of creative thoughts. Why not ask her in person tonight? We should respect her opinion."
Tong Yao thought that Wen Yun made a good point, so she said to Hu Haiyun, "Sister Hu, I like this idea. How about we go visit Yueyue tonight and ask her what she thinks?"
Hu Haiyun was pleased to see everyone agree. She immediately said, "Yes, we should ask Yueyue since she will ultimately be calling me godmother."
They quickly discussed the matter. Haiyun stated that if Tong Yue agreed, she would host a banquet at a grand restaurant.
Just when she finished speaking, Gu Hongwei and Guo Jinnian walked in from outside. Hearing that Haiyun’s going to host a dinner, they were quite stunned, but when they learned it was because of Tong Yue, they agreed as well.
After their lively discussion, they went to a grand restaurant that Gu Hongwei had booked in advance for lunch. Even the staff members joined, resulting in several bustling tables.
The staff members usually hadn’t been to such a place. Everyone spoke in hushed tones and envied Guo Jinnian.
After the meal, Gu Hongwei let the staff leave early. Everyone could go home after the meal. By coincidence, Guo Yun passed by the restaurant and seeing this, she stopped a staff member to ask.
"What’s going on with your company, why are there so many people having a meal together?"
The staff member casually answered, "Our boss is proposing, so the company is having a meal together."
Guo Yun’s face fell when she heard this, stomped her foot, and left the entrance of the restaurant.
What a bad day! She walked out the door and ran into this upsetting news.
The staff dissipated quickly, but Tong Yao and the others sat and chatted. It was rare for everyone to gather together, so they had a good time. They first talked about business, then about the past, and finally about Gu Hongwei and Guo Jinnian’s upcoming wedding.
Guo Jinnian was truly happy that day and had a wide smile on his face the entire time.
Not until the gathering was over did everyone return home. Tong Yao took Hu Haiyun back to her house.
Haiyun believed that if she really wanted to have Tong Yue as her goddaughter, she needed to show sincerity. She proposed to Yao that they pick up Yue from school together. The two arrived at the school gate before the school was out and began chatting. Tong Yao inadvertently saw a figure begging. She was about to approach when the figure seemed to notice her and walked away limping.
"What happened?" Hu Haiyun noticed Tong Yao’s behavior and found it strange, "Did you see someone you know?"
