Xue Ling, standing outside the door, listened as her master made up a pitiful story about her origins. But, it seemed that what her master said about albinism was a real disease. Sigh, who could blame her for being all white? Having her background arranged didn’t seem to harm her anyway.
After listening to the story, Chu Molin remained silent while holding his son, seemingly deep in thought.
Qin Xue felt a little guilty seeing him , but he wouldn’t believe the truth. So, there was nothing she could do but let him struggle with his thoughts.
“Xue Ling, watch over the child. I’ll clean up and then take you both out to the streets,” called Qin Xue.
“Okay, Qin Xue,” Xue Ling responded, using the new name Qin Xue had given her to fit her fabricated story. It wouldn’t be appropriate for her to continue calling Qin Xue “master.”
“Are you scared to go out with us?” Qin Xue asked Xue Ling, knowing full well she wasn’t afraid. But her beloved husband was watching them intently, so they needed to keep up appearances.
“Qin Xue, I’m not afraid, My former nanny always told me not to care too much about other people’s opinions, otherwise, life would be exhausting. She told me to live my own life and let others talk. So ever since I stopped caring about others’ gazes. If I hadn’t, I would have never met you,” said Xue Ling, gazing adoringly at Qin Xue.
Qin Xue felt an icy sensation watching Xue Ling’s flattery, thinking what a waste it would be for her not to go into acting.
Chu Molin suddenly understood why his wife liked this child called Xue Ling. Though she spoke flattering words, her actions and eyes told a different story.
This girl’s movements didn’t show any trace of pretense, and her eyes were clean and clear. It was apparent that she didn’t have any bad intentions.
Everyone liked being with someone simple and pure, even if they were just a child. Besides, raising a child with evil thoughts would be headache-inducing, wouldn’t it?
“That’s good. That’s how people should live. Watch over the child, and we’ll go shopping later. Think about what you want to buy and we’ll get it for you,” Qin Xue patted Xue Ling’s head.
When Chu Molin couldn’t see, Qin Xue was shot a few dirty looks by Xue Ling. Well, Qin Xue admitted that not consulting with Xue Ling was her fault, but it was just her spur-of-the-moment idea. She admired her own resourcefulness and innovation.
If Xue Ling knew what Qin Xue was thinking, she would surely scream. How could this be considered resourcefulness? Wasn’t it just Qin Xue’s luck that she was all white? If there had been even one strand of different-colored hair, she wouldn’t be able to make up such a story.
After observing how the two interacted, Chu Molin thought that they must have gotten along well during his absence, otherwise they wouldn’t have such natural and affectionate movements. It was good that there was someone to help Qin Xue look after the child and reduce her burden.
Chu Molin chose to trust his wife’s words and let go of his guard against Xue Ling, believing that she didn’t hold any malicious thoughts towards his wife and child.
Xue Ling couldn’t read Chu Molin’s mind, otherwise, she would have laughed at him. How could she harbor any bad intentions towards her master? It was already a good thing that her master didn’t have any bad intentions towards her.
However, the two couldn’t read each other’s thoughts and didn’t know that they both trusted each other because of Qin Xue.
Of course, Xue Ling knew Chu Molin well enough since she had drunk his blood, and she could sense whether or not he harbored evil thoughts. Since she didn’t sense anything right now, the meaning was clear.
