’’Do you care?" Ella looked at him and arched an eyebrow in amusement. She did not peg him for the kind who would care about his reputation.
"I am just worried when you will get out to give me the way, when I will step out of my seat and why there is a need for all these hassles,’’ Kade stretched his arms.
"_" Fine, she thought too much.
"And what more, the names I call out are allowed to sit for an improvement test so pay attention,’’ Jenny continued speaking.
’’Oh, she turned out to be an angel!" Kade wiggled his brows.
Jenny called out the names of all the students that had failed in the test one by one.
When Kade’s name was taken, the entire class was surprised. Just like the last test, their university god had failed again?
But Ella noticed that, although the fact came as a surprise to them, their adoration did not fade in the slightest.
But rather, it seemed to increase when they saw how nonchalant Kade was about the whole affair.
The list came to an end.
Ella’s name was never taken.
"Did I leave anyone out?" Jenny looked around the class, ’’You can just raise your hand and let me know if you want to appear for the retest..."
Ella’s hand rose, ’’Professor, you missed my name.’’
Whispers rose inside the classroom.
’’Oh, her perfect scores in Professor Grimwood’s paper was a fluke after all?"
"Has she really failed?"
"Why else would she raise her hand? This shameless woman is really something!"
’’You sound like you know something. So, were those sugar daddy rumors true?"
"Forget that! Don’t you know what she has done in the past few days?"
’’Do you see the Imperial Goddess anywhere in the class? It is said that out of jealousy, she got her backer to deal with her.’’
"Yes, I even heard...’’
"Silence!" Jenny’s voice cut through the gossip and the class immediately quietened.
Kade scoffed, ’’These kids... They probably haven’t gotten an update of what happened in the campus just now.’’
At this moment, Jenny turned to Ella, ’’There would be no need to add your name in here, Ella. In no time, you will be dispelled from the university due to all your past records.’’
Gasps rose in the class. If the people were merely gossiping before then Jenny’s words validated all their suspicions about Ella.
Kade also turned to Ella, expecting her to be a little flustered.
But then he saw her sitting there, with a tiny bit of a smirk on her face.
His arms were covered in a layer of goosebumps immediately.
Right, in a situation , Ella still had his brother to count on. She would probably go crying in front of his brother like she did when she was dealing with him.
And with Adrian King as the backer, who would dare to mess with Ella?
However, Ella nonchalantly looked at Jenny, ’’Professor, what have I done wrong?"
Jenny looked at Ella, composed and elegant, ’’Why don’t you ask yourself that?"
The softer her words were, the more bite they had.
The class felt like if somebody as gentle as Jenny could be this triggered and angry, then Ella’s deeds were indeed as infamous as they were rumored to be.
"If it is about the rumors, then there is no evidence..."
"Enough, Ella!" Jenny frowned, ’’I have tolerated you time and time again but not only has your behaviour not improved, you have gotten even more shameless...!"
Ella raised an eyebrow in amusement. Couldn’t keep the facade longer?
But before Ella could say a word, a shadow moved by her side.
When Ella tilted her head, she saw Kade standing up in his seat, his eyes were narrowed and his fingers still fiddled with the pen, ’’Professor, don’t you think you should check the situation outside before spurting accusations in here?"
Jenny was instantly displeased at being interrupted but when she saw Kade, she pursed her lips.
Amongst the staff, most of them knew that this academically weak university god was actually a member of a branch family of the Kings!
When the class saw Kade speaking up for Ella, they were stunned.
Even Ella was stunned.
She was too stunned to say anything.
"You all love to talk, don’t you?" Kade said coldly. "Get a backbone before judging someone else’s life."
Kade had just turned to Jenny again when he felt a sharp tug at his sleeve.
He looked down and saw Ella shaking her head.
Kade was frustrated and bewildered.
This girl... While bullying him, she was so eager to hug his brother’s golden thigh.
But now that the situation had come to this, she did not seem to have any intentions to ask his brother for help!
However, what was even more frustrating was that he even tried to help this white lotus!
Seeing him refusing to sit, Ella was speechless.
She was already shocked that this guy would go out of his way to help her but now he was actually being so persistent about it?
’I got this’ Ella mouthed.
Once Kade sat, Jenny cleared her throat and stepped forward, ’’This is a classroom and we should maintain its peace at any cost."
Saying that, she turned to Ella and resumed her righteous tone, "As for you, Ella, I think it would be wise for you to go back to your dorms and start packing. Staying here any longer would be a waste of time."
"I appreciate the concern, Professor," Ella said smoothly. "But don’t speak like the verdict’s yours to give."
Her calm response triggered Jenny, her youthful and pretty face displayed a hint of rage but before she could say a word, there were sounds of urgent footsteps outside the room.
A young assistant professor appeared at the entrance of the classroom.
Jenny turned to her, "What happened?"
"Professor, the Dean has asked for you and a student to be present at his office.’’
The young assistant professor sweated a little by Jenny’s fierce glare but after a beat, he opened his mouth, ’’Ella Yu."
Ella stood up, smoothed her sleeves, and walked toward the door without glancing back.
