When Ella leaned in, Mo Jun really thought that she was going to answer his question. But in the next moment, his eyes turned cold as the girl thrust her hand inside her pockets.
He instantly recoiled back from her, retreating to a distance. In his haste, he nearly bumped into the nearby wall!
"You, woman! Do you think I will let you attack me with your metal balls again?" When he looked up, the place was empty.
He was the only person standing in the alley.
Mo Jun looked around, ready to give her a chase but a sweet voice halted him in his tracks.
"Darling, wait!" Esther was dressed in a delicate jogging suit that revealed her skin in all the right places, while hugging her snugly.
As she ran towards Mo Jun, her figure was enunciated beautifully, a layer of sweat covered her forehead.
Mo Jun frowned, ’’What are you doing here?"
"Darling, you have been avoiding me these past few days. And I don’t see you in class as well so I got up early and asked the driver to bring me here so we can jog together..."
As she held his arm, Mo Jun pulled his hand back, ’’I am not engrossed in the university news and stuff but I am not clueless about it. Mo Lia told me everything on a call yesterday."
Esther’s eyes welled up with indignant tears, "Darling..."
"Esther, the reason I gave you authority to order the Black Wolf Gang back then was because you are my woman. I want you to feel protected in yourself. But what did you do?"
"I know I shouldn’t have asked them to kidnap Ruby... I..."
"When I got to know about it, I supported you. I asked them to scare her enough without causing any real harm. But all this while, you even kept me in the dark about being in touch with Maxwell Hill!" Mo Jun stepped back, his eyes were indifferent and his words were cold.
Esther’s bottom lips trembled.
After a while, she looked up at him as tears rolled down her eyes, ’’Do you think I wanted to harm Ruby for my own pleasure?"
Watching the tears staining her cheeks, Mo Jun frowned and pinched his forehead, ’’Esther, stop crying and just admit your fault in this whole matter."
"My fault? You know it better than me that I did it for my sister. My sister has been suffering all by herself during this time. She did not even finish her words as her shoulders shook, more and more tears covering her face.
Mo Jun watched her, his frown turning deeper for a moment before he let out a sigh and pulled her into his arms, ’’It’s my bad. The gang was destroyed overnight. Not a single soul is left alive and I took it out all on you,’’ he whispered, holding her tighter, ’’How can I blame you when you are just being kind?"
"I am not kind..." Esther buried her face in his chest, still sobbing. In an angle Mo Jun did not see, her lips curved up slightly, ’’Even my sister misunderstood my intentions this time... I...’’
"That woman... She better never show her face to me or I will personally deal with her for all the times she has hurt you after using you!" Mo Jun’s face turned cold.
At a little distance, Ella leaned against the wall.
Hearing their conversation, a cold smile curved up her lips. If tears were weapons, Esther would be a warlord.
Ella’s smile didn’t reach her eyes.
Esther’s ability to twist her words based on who she was talking to never failed to amuse her.
In front of Mo Lia and the rest, she initially refused having ever contacted Max. In front of Mo Jun, she confessed that she did out of her care for Ella.
Ella never understood why a man like Mo Jun was so devoted to Esther. As one would see him, he did not seem like the most responsible person in the room.

As for Esther, she wanted to ruin Ruby’s reputation and take Ella down in the same hit.
They would never know that Jenny, the mistress of Mo Jun’s father, also commissioned the Black Wolf Gang anonymously to kidnap Ella.
Because the gang no longer existed. Just like Mo Jun said, each member of that gang was eliminated.
Mo Jun might not know how that happened. But Ella knew who was capable of it.
The man who promised to tutor her.
And the same man she did not hear from in the upcoming days.
The next two days passed in a flash.
During this time, Adrian did not contact her.
But every shadow she passed felt watched. She did not let her guards down and remained low-key so as to not attract unnecessary attention.
Ella did her morning runs and daily classes regularly. In the night, she set some time aside for studies.
While she was terribly bad at certain things, she had her strong points as well.
Papers like language, literature etc were trifles for her. Ella could just do a shallow reading and connect ideas to form her answers. She was exceptionally good at them.
So, she decided to cover the easy aspects to save more time for her difficult subjects later.
One thing bothered Ella. She did not see Ruby in the classes during this time.
Although they were not in touch before, after two lives of entanglements, Ella remembered her number by heart.
