In the next moment, her back bumped into something solid—a muscular chest. The faint fragrance of cedar dominated her senses, leaving her in a momentary daze.
Ella tilted her head to the side and her eyes locked in with a pair of dark eyes that looked at her intently.
She had not expected Adrian to tag along when she said she was going out for work.
And the entire way, Ella was not sure how to talk to him. Hence the awkward atmosphere between them.
Adrian did not bring up that topic again but Ella could not help but wonder if he was waiting for an honest answer from her.
What was she hiding from him? That she was miraculously reborn after dying once.
Not to mention the question of whether he would ever trust something so bizarre, Ella did not think she was capable of sharing this secret with anyone in this life.
So, she simply remained quiet and the silence between them became stifling until one would find it hard to breathe. As it is now.
Despite the pressing urge to break eye contact, Ella continued looking into his eyes, "I..."

Ella instinctively flinched away from Adrian’s hold at the sound of approaching footsteps, "I am fine..."
Ji Yan who had reached near the couple suddenly froze, his face turned pale.
It was as if a full-blown hurricane brewed over Adrian’s head and thunderclaps reverberated in the sky. In that moment, it seemed as if even the plants leaned away from the man to escape from his wrath.
The old security guard stood in front of her, followed by the two ladies who were hired by Ella.

The old man gazed at Adrian but his old heart stammered by the intensity of that powerful aura, making him avert his gaze.

Both Penny and June were clearly overwhelmed by Adrian’s presence. The man looked far from being a mortal being. Previously, they hadn’t not known Ella’s identity clearly.
But this time, they had done their homework. She was once the top model whose downfall happened on the peak of her career. People said she was a fallen star who became some rich man’s mistress. What would they think if they knew that she was an immortal’s wife?
They kept sneaking gazes at Adrian and Ella along the way to Ella’s flat yet they did not dare to look on for too long. The man’s intimidating aura threatened the life out of them.
Once they reached Ella’s flat, Adrian left Ella alone.
Even though he stepped away and occupied a quiet corner, his presence was unavoidable.
Let alone Penny and June, even Ella felt a little overwhelmed. And for some reason, she felt like the man’s gaze was awfully persistent.

However overwhelmed they were, both the ladies perked up the moment Ella talked about work.

Ella smiled reassuringly, "Don’t worry about it."
June was concerned, "Miss Yu, how can we not worry about it? It is so essential for the website..."
"How about this? You can take a seat while I make some orange juice for you all..."

"I will peel the oranges..." With slow shy steps, Penny stepped behind Ella.
Jun coughed, "Miss Yu, I will have some water instead."
With Ella’s constant assurance, both the ladies tagged along with her to the kitchen. Ella had restocked the kitchen with a few items. In no time, Ella prepared the orange juice.
June helped her bring a glass to Ji Yan while Penny tagged along with her, with her head lowered.
And Ella brought a glass of juice to Adrian to break the ice between them, "Baby, this is your first time in the house I own. I wish I had some better stuff to welcome you but..." Before she could finish her words, the glass in her hand was gone.
"This is fine," Adrian sipped on the juice calmly.
Penny and June looked on in a daze. It was just a glass of orange juice. How come it resembled heavenly nectar in the hands of Miss Yu’s husband?
Ella’s eyes gleamed as she watched Adrian sipping the juice. Since he drank her juice, he would not hold things against her, right?
Feeling proud of her wits, Ella was about to take a seat when the doorbell rang.
