"Lala, is that how you are supposed to help Mommy?" Ella glanced at the kitty who was sitting innocently after taking a divine bite from the fresh fish that she had just cleaned.
Lala blinked her huge eyes.
Ella opened her mouth to scold her some more but before she could say a word, Riri stepped forward, shielding Lala behind him.
Ella fell speechless. This...
Eventually, she sighed and looked at them in amusement, "Forget it, I will let you off this time..."
Her words trailed off when she heard the sound of approaching footsteps.
The moment Ella turned her head away from Riri and Lala, she was pulled into a strong embrace.
Before Ella could recover her senses, Adrian lifted her up and placed her on the kitchen counter.
"Baby, when did you come back?" As she spoke, her gaze inadvertently shifted to his wrists.
Without waiting for his reply, Ella lifted one sleeve of his suit jacket and glanced at his bandages, "I think we need to change them."
One moment, Ella was still sitting on the kitchen counter but in the next moment, Adrian picked her up in a princess carry.
"Wait... wait... the food..."
Adrian turned off the stove with one hand and left the kitchen with huge strides.
The moment they reached the master bedroom, Ella spoke up, "Do you have a first aid box here? Or just put me down, I can get it from my room real quick—"
Adrian lifted her up in his arms, holding her straight this time as he pulled her in.
Her legs coiled around his waist.
"Or, help me with something else," The man leaned in, whispering against her lips.
For a moment, she stilled in his arms.
And then, it took her a moment to spot that look in his eyes, hungry, ravenous...
Almost like... like he wanted to devour her.
The way he looked at her was almost intimidating but at the same time, it did something strange to her.
"I think... I think we should have dinner..."
Ella’s jaw dropped but Adrian did not remain still in his position.
He climbed onto the king sized bed and hovered above her.
For a moment, both of them did not say anything.
And the tension in the air thickened to a point that Ella could barely breathe.
She felt weirdly heaty everywhere and it made her squirm a little.
After a beat, she opened her mouth, "You just came back from work yet you are here with me, ..." She pointed at the space between them, "One might think that I am on your mind the entire day."
Adrian leaned towards her as he opened his mouth, caressing her lips with every word he uttered "Where is the lie?’’
Before she could recover from his words, he leaned in and captured her lips.
Adrian kissed her like a man starved, lips crashing into hers with a hunger that made her gasp.
Ella clung to him, her fingers tangled in his hair. Her breath hitched, her body melting into his touch as he slid his tongue past her parted lips.
His slender fingers slid down her body, tugging off the satin nightgown till it was almost peeled off her body.
His hands roamed over her waist, her thighs, dragging her closer with a groan.
Heat coiled low in her belly, and her body responded instinctively, arching into his touch.
But in the next moment, Adrian stopped.
Ella’s body thrummed in disappointment as she looked at the man, her eyes almost pleading.
Adrian met her gaze, the corner of his lips tugged up slightly as he removed his suit jacket and pressed down on her again.
Ella groaned, feeling the friction between her thighs as he rubbed against her.
Adrian’s mouth trailed down her jaw, hot kisses pressed onto the curve of her neck, his voice rasping against her skin. "I need you."
The way he said it, raspy, soft yet domineering... It did something to her.
Before she realized, her hands moved down to unbutton his shirt.
Adrian captured her wrist and met her gaze, with a question in his eyes.
He did not say it out loud but she could hear it word by word. What he wanted to ask.
Ella gulped, reaching her other hand towards his face. With gentle fingers, she stroked his cheekbones.
"I want you too," she whispered, her voice trembling with need. "So much..."
A fire burned in Adrian’s eyes as he looked at her.
For a moment, only silence burned in between them.
None of them broke the eye contact, as if testing the other person’s resolve.
And then he moved, kissing her chin, nibbling on it before he went lower.
He pulled her bra strap down with his teeth and kissed her shoulder.

Adrian immediately froze. His gaze snapped to her face, as if afraid of hurting her.
Ella did not say anything immediately.
Every moment of silence seemed to push Adrian to the edge.
His mind raced with thoughts that seemed to wrap him in like poison.
"Baby, I think I got my period..." Clueless about his thoughts, Ella mumbled softly, her face slightly red, "I am sorry... There was time in it but I don’t know how it came today..."
Before she could finish her words, Adrian sat up on the bed.
Ella stiffened. Was he... angry?
