In front of an ancestral mansion in Vermilion City, a sleek car came to a halt.

Once Ruby stepped out of the car, she was surrounded by all sides.

As some of them rushed inside, two of the maids accompanied Ruby and led her into the mansion, ’’Where is my mother?"

The moment they stepped inside the huge living room, the maids suddenly stopped chattering away excitedly.
The silence made Ruby raise her head.

’’It’s good that you are back, safe and sound,’’ Mr. Ambrose remarked calmly, ’’Go, see your mother. She has been worried.’’
As the man turned to leave, Ruby looked at his retreating back.
Suddenly, he halted in his tracks and looked at her from above his shoulder, ’’Regarding this matter, you don’t need to worry. It wasn’t your fault.’’
Those words sounded amiss, ’’What do you mean, dad?"
"Are you still acting clueless? Max called me and told me everything. It’s that discarded daughter of the Yu Family stirring trouble again.’’
Ruby turned alert instantly, ’’Ella has nothing to do...’’

Ruby looked at the man’s back, her gaze turning cold.
’’That girl is all bark and no bite. After being blacklisted in the entertainment industry, she is just throwing about her limbs as a last attempt to survive. Two bodyguards will accompany you from now on to ensure your safety.’’
When Ruby heard the last part, she opened her mouth, ’’I don’t need...’’

Ruby went upstairs and stood in front of the Master bedroom for a while before knocking twice.
After a while, there was no response from inside.
She pushed open the door and stepped inside and her gaze landed on the beautiful woman sleeping on the bed. The woman had striking red hair, just like Ruby.
The years had left its imprint on the woman, she looked pale and weak but still she seemed dignified.
Ruby approached the bed and sat beside the woman and held her hand.
The woman on the bed was so deep asleep that she did not budge.
Ruby sighed and looked in the direction of the window.
Her gaze drifted toward the open window and night sky reflected in her eyes, reminding her of the person who asked her to leave at 8 pm.
’Ella, did you do it on purpose?’
The moment Adrian stepped out of the meeting room, Ji Yan followed him to his office.
In his hands, Ji Yan was holding a laptop and his face was a little pale.
Adrian took a seat and Ji Yan lowered his head, his flower-embroidered handkerchief ready in his hand to dab the cold sweat off his forehead.
’’Second M-M-Master..."
Adrian looked up at him.
The lack of sleep had caused some green lines under his eyes. It did not take away from the man’s unparalleled beauty but rather, it added a hint of an evil charm to him.

The temperature in the room dropped abruptly and a chill air blasted on Ji Yan’s face.
’’Where?" Adrian asked, his eyes were dark and veins popped on the hand that was resting on the edge of the table.
Ji Yan shivered and placed the laptop in front of Adrian.

"Speak properly,’’ Adrian did not look up at the man, his voice was covered in a layer of frost.

Adrian’s finger tapped on the laptop and his gaze focused on the laptop screen.
Ji Yan who stood behind him, felt the man’s upheaval of emotions through it all.

When Max grabbed Ella’s hand, the fountain pen tapped the desk a little too hard, making the surface crack.
The cameras in the garden area were focusing on both the people from a distance so their voices and discussions were not caught.
The rest of the conversation, however, Ella maintained a distance from Max. And that relieved Ji Yan.
’Thank god, Miss Yu is now playing it safe instead of playing with fire. It seems like she has really changed her ways for good this time...’
His thoughts had yet to be finished when Ella suddenly grabbed Max’s collar and leaned in towards him at lightning speed.
The air in the office room stilled.
