By evening, during the final scene, Chen Beini couldn’t keep up with the pace and NG’d 11 times, which provoked Director Tang to explode, “I really wish you would go home and take a good look at your so-called acting skills. If you put as much effort into your acting as you do into hyping yourself up, all the Oscar trophies would have to be given to you.”
Chen Beini stood there awkwardly, unable to retort, because the crew, who were supposed to rest, now had to stay and use up their energy with her.
At that time, Yan Shixiu arrived on the sweltering film set with his assistant.

Sun Ling turned around and, upon seeing Mr. Yan, his eyes lit up. He quickly said, “Chen Beini has been constantly NG’ing, so nobody can wrap up and leave. An Lan hates the heat the most, and she’s still enduring it, plus she has to shoot night scenes.”
After hearing this, Yan Shixiu approached Director Tang and spoke with him about something. Then, everyone heard Director Tang’s voice through the megaphone yelling, “It’s too hot. The other actors can wrap up. As for Chen Beini, Gu Chengyu, stay back and rehearse with her to get a better feel for the scene. Otherwise, what about the night shoot? Are you all going to stay here and feed the mosquitoes?”
“Understood, Director Tang,” Gu Chengyu responded in a muffled voice.
Everyone was tired after a whole day, who didn’t want to rest?
In such hot weather, everyone was irritable, including Gu Chengyu, who was holding back a bellyful of anger.
Finally, Shi Lan was relieved. Sun Ling hurriedly came over with a damp towel and offered it to her, “Must be unbearable in this heat, right? If some people were more professional, we all could have finished and rested by now. It’s so annoying.”

Shi Lan took the towel from Sun Ling without acknowledging the National Couple further. Instead, she wiped her face while walking towards Yan Shixiu.
Mr. Yan handed her a bottle of water, “How many scenes do you have at night?”
“Two,” Shi Lan replied to Yan Shixiu while taking the water, “We could have finished by ten, but at this rate, it’ll stretch into the wee hours.”
“Let’s eat first,” Yan Shixiu told Shi Lan, but he didn’t reach out, because he honored the agreement to not show intimacy towards Shi Lan in front of others.
Typically, when Yan Shixiu came to visit the set, he was quite generous, especially in improving the meals for Director Tang and the assistant directors.
After Yan Shixiu had instructed Director Tang to properly “train” Chen Beini, the hotel staff moved the food to the film set, where Director Tang and a few others closely monitored the live rehearsal between Chen Beini and Gu Chengyu.
